tmesley 4 Posted March 22, 2013 Have anyone sleeve stretched? And do you still get full fast after a year of being sleeved?
TXMama1722 21 Posted March 22, 2013 I was wondering the same thing myself.
FishingNurse 1,211 Posted March 22, 2013 My restriction is still good after 20 months. I can eat a lot more than I could in the first 6 months, but I still feel like my sleeve is a great tool. Typical meal size: 2 eggs. 1 medium/ large slice of pizza. 3/4 of a 6 inch sub. 1 slice of toast with Peanut Butter and half a banana sliced on it. Preop I I could eat a footlong sub and chips and a cookie! Or 6 slices of pizza. I'm super happy with my sleeve 20 months out!
tmesley 4 Posted March 22, 2013 Ok that sounds good and you still cannot eat like use too.. Good to know
Cristin 73 Posted March 22, 2013 Sleeve Of Steel, were you careful never to get too full, or is it just that the sleeve itself didn't stretch despite the inevitable occasion where one might eat too much?
FishingNurse 1,211 Posted March 22, 2013 I really hate being really full. So I rarely do get overfull. I think picking foods that are not sliders makes a big difference. I could eat a half a box of cheezits and not feel full, but could eat 3oz of steak and feel like I ate a thanksgiving meal! So choosing the right foods is huge. 1 anayortiz reacted to this

I bet your discipline played a big role in the longevity of your sleeve. I'm 9 days post op and really hope I can do the same.
FishingNurse 1,211 Posted March 22, 2013 For sure. Losing the weight was easy. Honestly! Maintaining is the trickier part. But nobody wants be a failure. I'm finally normal, and I don't want to go back. It's huge insentive to pick the right foods. :-)
katieb 80 Posted March 22, 2013 I am 11 months out and am at my goal weight. Actually a few pounds below. I have been really hungry lately and have been eating alot more than normal. However, I have been eating the slider foods. chips and salsa, Cookies. U name it bad stuff. I have been working out a ton so I have been eating more & more bad choices to make up for the amount of calories I have burned. I need to get back on track and stop the slider foods soon. Before it becomes a habit. I definitely don't eat as much as I did pre op. but. The important thing is that you make good food choices so you get full & don't eat alot. Also the more carbs and sugary foods you eat. The more you crave them. I ate very few carbs and made very few bad choices in my eating up until the last few weeks. Sorry for my rambling. Good luck! Should I be expecting another increase in stomach capacity? I certainly hope not. I'm kind of freaking out now at how much food I can eat. When did u notice a plateau in stomach capacity? I can eat alot. That's why I work out so much. The last few weeks I notice a huge difference in my hunger. It scares me as well. But. I know the sleeve is just a tool and I need to be diligent on my food choices, as well as the amount I eat. I ate a whole brat and 1/2 of a butterfly pork chop with a couple pickle slices for dinner. Prior to tht I had some chips & salsa. That's a lot of food. But. I also am human and worked off 700 calories at the gym today.
Lisa :) 231 Posted March 23, 2013 I have not had any difference in the amount of food I can eat since about the one year mark.....although, how full I get is dependent on the type of food I eat. I had posted, a while back, about the cottage cheese test. It is taken from a pouch test for gastric bypass patients, but it works for us too. Measure out cottage cheese in a measuring cup and put in a bowl (if you don't like cottage cheese, you can use egg salad that is very finely chopped with NO veggies added). I measured 1.5 cups knowing I couldn't eat any more than that. Eat until you feel comfortably full (not overly full) and make sure to eat it within 15 minutes. Then measure the remaining amount and subtract that from what you started with. This will tell you the capacity of your sleeve!!....and I GUARANTEE, it will not be 6-7 cups, which is what a "normal" stomach can hold!! BTW, I just did this test for the second time since December and I'm still at about 1 cup..
Lisa :) 231 Posted March 23, 2013 Oops, sorry....eat till full with 5 minutes, not 15.

I would say I eat the same as I did at about 14 months as I do now at 20 months. But the difference from 6 months to 14 months was pretty significant. I am very happy with my restriction, except for with cheezits. lol
