Did you have it lap...or open? Sounds like trapped gas!

I had my gallbladder removed two weeks after my WLS in May 2011. I can remember having gas pains because again they back into the same incisions as the WLS. I remember not being able to sleep on my side and having to sleep sitting up because I felt like there was a void or an open hole in my side and everthing felt moved around. It sounds like gas but I am not an expert by no means if it persists I would contact your surgeon or NP to advise them of what you are feeling.

I actually suffered more having my gall bladder out then my sleeve surgery. I had my gb out first and no one bothered to warn me about the horrific gas pains and I thought I was having a heart attack. Hubby rushed me to the hospital but by the time we got there it was gone. Not to mention it felt like I got mule kicked in the gut for quite a few days. Sleeve was a piece of cake compared to the gall bladder.

Hi, I'm pre op, but remember fondly having my gallbladder out. I had similar gas pain in my shoulders, very painful. I've had several lap surgeries and my gb was the most uncomfortable. slept sitting up in recliner for several nights. Feel better soon!

I had my gallbladder removed 12 weeks post op from sleeve surgery. Everyone told me it was easy. The first 4 days i was in so much pain. I almost went to the ER because I thought something must be wrong. It was way more painful than sleeve surgery.

Then people were like "oh yeah, its painful. I just didnt want to scare you!"

I would of rather been prepared! Haha.

Oh well. on day 5 it was like I never even had surgery. I felt 100% back to normal.

I hope you have a speedy recovery!

My surgeon is communicating with my doc to see about taking it out the same time as my sleeve is done. Am I putting myself in for a world of hurt?!?!

Honestly, I wish I would have done that. My gallbladder had no stones before surgery, but if i could go back time, I would of had it taken out during wls.

I would say do that if it is an option. Why go through 2 surgeries? All the pain will be gone in about a week anyways. Good luck!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
