Late night fly in now waiting to have surgery.

Recommended Posts

So I flew in last night (really last) and arrived in San Deigo at 11:30. My phone was dead and had to wait a couple of minutes to charge it up then I called my driver. The company I'm with picks us up at the airport. He had called me the night before to give me his cell # so I could call when I was in. He was waiting for me in the parking lot. Originally I thought I would have had to get a hotel until pickup the next day but he said he would cross tonight. So we did and it took us a whole 30 minutes. I must say that I traveled to Mexico before but in the south....Tijuana surprised me bc I was told it was old and different. It's not. The Marriott is better than some hotels in NY. I was able to call my husband using Skype in the hotel and now waiting in my room for pickup at 9pm. Two days ago, I found myself crying out of fear if the unknown, today many of my ears are being unfounded and that feels great. Knowing my husband is 250% behind me as he says with this surgery reassures me I'm doing the right thing. All surgeries have risks and complications and I'd be stupid o think otherwise.....but that is also true if I were having it in NY....so...so far so good....will keep updating.

Good luck and blessings, don't worry, you're going to be OK. Don't believe what they say on TV or people say about Mexico being an unsafe country, Mexico is as unsafe as it is USA or any other country, i live in Florida and i had my sleeve surgery done in Tijuana as well 7 months ago and it was the best experience ever!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
