Mastiff_mama 171 Posted March 22, 2013 So my surgeon took all my band aids off my wounds yesterday and my largest hole stings and my other ones are kinda " irritated" and very itchy! Is this normal! I put ice pack on mine over my clothes... The coolness took the sting and itch right out!
kitkat 76 Posted March 22, 2013 yup totally normal. I have been told that itchy is also a side effect of loosing weight =) I am three months out and my scars still itch to just not as bad. The ice really helps and I used benadril when they were healed.
Delta girl 19 Posted March 22, 2013 Yep normal. ( unless red) I'm 2 months out and incisions still occassionaly itch.
Susie1226 138 Posted March 22, 2013 I had the same problem. My doctor told me to take Benadryl. Also you need to wash the area well bc you still might have adhesive on there that's still making you itch. I was itch from the adhesive and the steri strips and even developed a rash on my belly. It wasn't until I was able to take of the strips and wash all that adhesive off that my rash started going away.
Cristin 73 Posted March 22, 2013 Yeah, I had a major allergic reaction to the steri strips. Itched and stung like crazy and the skin on my stomach turned bright red and hot to the touch. Doc told me to not scratch it and take Benadryl orally and use Benadryl cream.
