Dr Marymore Barix of Langhorne PA

Recommended Posts

Jacqueline thanks!!!! I'm feeling better about it now. I was getting concerned because I saw that Abington ad Eistein were "Bariatric Centers of Excellence" and wonder why Barix is not considering they are solely a Bariatric Center. I also noticed the procedure costs more at hospital based facilities...it's covered dr me so cost is not a concern but its about a 5-7 thousand dollar difference. Has me thinking???

Hi Roserie!!!!! I actually live in Philly but my job is in Trenton so it's easier for me to get to Barix for pre and post op appointments. Do you have a date yet?

No date yet. My surgeon requires a 3mth program before they will allow you to go through with surgery (even though my insurance doesn't require a program). My insurance requires the normal testing and that the facility is a center of excellence. Next week I have my 2nd group appointment, my mandatory support group and my individual dietitian/psych visits. After I do those I have to setup an appointment with the surgeon and then I should have one more visit before I submit to insurance. I'm ready to get on with it though. My SO and I want another baby and the surgery pushes us being able to try at least a yr out so I'm really hoping we don't hit any bumps along the way.

When is your date?

I have been nervous so much, but when I walked in there and had my first appointment I felt like they already knew me. I was going to have the female surgeon originally. But my daughters gmom had the bypass there... EXCELLENT!! No worries at all. I just wish I could of had my surgery there.

Omg! Glad you are happy with it. I was at the support group last night. I took a tour of the recovery room and saw a woman walking for the first time after surgery. She looked good. She said she was tired but felt good. I'm so excited. Have you purchased any Protein Shakes. I got a sample of some powders from injury going to try them this weekend. When is your surgery the 29th?

I can't wait for my testing next week. I didn't know they had chewable. The support group is nice because I was able to ask questions but most of them are bypass patients and you can get all the info you need on here. It is nice to have someone face to face that I can talk to. How far away are you. There is one on first Saturday of the month maybe try that one.

This pre op diet is rough. I have lost some weight. For the first time ever I am seeing it my clothes. But I cheated twice. One time i had spinach and yesterday the whole company had coldstone. It's killing me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
