Recommended Posts

Hello all HELP!!!!! I am pre op papers submitted to insurance BCBS of New Jersey yesterday. I selected Dr Marymore of Barix but wondered if anyone used him or the Barix facility and what you thought. I think I'm getting nervous and just want to make sure I have a great surgeon.

I am going through the process of using him now. I'm just waiting for my surgery appt. I did a lot of research after my consultation and found that everyone who has used him loved him.

Thanks Jojo928 I was beginning to get nervous that not a soul in here used him. I did some research last year. Thanks for the info. I'm still waiting on insurance approval. Good luck with getting your date! ;-)

I was sleeved by Dr Marymor on 3/6! I loved him and his whole staff... Very thorough and professional. After surgery, those nurses will get you up and walking right away! I'm so happy I went to him! Let me know if you have any questions!

Congrats on beginning your journey! Will you attend any of the support groups. I went this month and will go next month on third Wednesday. The nut attends and folks give great info. Which Protein shakes did you enjoy most.my biggest fear is the pre op diet.

I jsut wanted to say hello since I haven't found many people anywhere near me getting sleeved. I'm using Dr Harrison in Lehigh Valley but my SO's family lives in Langhorne. Good luck of your surgery.

Pre-op testing involved EKG, blood work, Ultrasound of gall bladder, chest X-ray, meet w/Dr Koganski or Dr Proudan (medical docs), meet w/respiratory to go over your incentive spirometer, & meet w/NUT. I think it took about 2.5 hrs....

I went back to work one week later. I had to because I actually found a nursing position the day before my surgery & needed to give my employer my resignation.... If you can take off longer, do it!!!!!!

You have to stay at Barix two nights... They are very thorough. I was a huge carb/sugar/soda person.... I kicked all the bad habits before my pre-op diet (never ever thought I could). You get used to the pre-op diet....I'm finally switching to puréed diet tomorrow! I lost 13lbs pre-op & 15lbs post op;)

Good for you 2boys!!!!! Thanks for the information.

That is a lot of testing in one day but at least you didn't have to run all over the place to get those things done.

Hi Roserie!!!!! I actually live in Philly but my job is in Trenton so it's easier for me to get to Barix for pre and post op appointments. Do you have a date yet?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
