How far out are you?

Salads are very fiberous and difficult for the stomach to digest. Remember, the stomach is the mechanical part of digestion and you just had 85% of it removed. Salads, then red meat were the last things for me to be able to eat. I had my first salad (iceburg) 4 months post-op.

Sounds to me like you may have eaten salads a little too early on your journey.

I had to wait at least 2 and half months to eat salad. I think you are jumping on the salad a little too early.

Waited about 5 months before able to eat side salads. I still have trouble with raw veggies like red peppers if I do not chew them enough or leave enough space. You might want to give your some time to progress through the various food types. Beef was also a difficult one.

3 weeks and I'm still on soft foods, salads, lettuce, seeded veggies & raw veggies are on my after 4 months list. Check with your doctor or nutritionist but I think 3 weeks is way too soon for raw veggies.

I've never thrown up but had this happen several times, especially with ultra sweet and high fat foods. Serious gas volume happens a lot for me if I eat something that has a lot of Fiber or acid.

I'm with Bunny! I want a salad so bad. I am only 2 weeks out so I guess I'll wait a while but I would seriously enjoy a salad.

I'm 9 weeks out and had my first salad this week. It was soooo good! I thoroughly enjoyed it. I wasn't allowed raw veggies til 2 months out. I had no problem digesting it and it didnt bother my sleeve at all. Since then I've had a salad every day. I think 3 weeks may have been a little too soon. Hang in there, you'll get your salads back!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
