magpie30 187 Posted March 21, 2013 My husband had the sleeve surgery and is a member of the forums, he just doesn't really post unless he has something highly informative to add.
Tink22-sleeve 528 Posted March 21, 2013 I completely agree with missmeow. I couldnt say it better myself I think it is cultural. More women get cosmetic surgery too. Women, I think, have a bigger burden when it comes to being obese in terms of how were perceived and treated. Also, as others have stated, women are more likely to find social outlets to discuss things. The question really is if you want surgery or not.

washffpm 56 Posted March 21, 2013 Hey midnight I had the same fears as you. I'm 6 1 and weighed 408 the day of surgery. I have been fortunate that I have not lost a lot of muscle mass. I had my surgery on August 27th. I did the bod pod at my gym at the end of September and my lean muscle mass was around 200 pounds. When I did the retest in December my lean muscle mass was 213 pounds. I don't really think I gained that much muscle mass, probably just better hydrated that day. I know these tests are not 100 percent accurate but it is probably close. With that being said I don't think I lost any mass either. I was mostly just doing light cardio and light weights during that time. I am trying to get more serious about lifting and working out. I have been trying to get at least 100 grams of Protein per day. My current weight is 284. I'v been in a bit of a stall the last three weeks or so. Even though I have not lost a lot of muscle I still feel small at 284. I think my shoulders look smaller. Never thought I would worry about being too small! If you have any questions feel free to pm me. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using VST
