Just so you aren't surprised, Vitamin D deficiency can take a very long time to correct. I was on 10,000iu a day for more than a year, and although my levels were higher, they still hadn't gotten back up to normal. For a while I was on weekly super-doses (50,000iu) too, but they gave me diarrhea :/

Thanks everyone for their info. I was hoping it was the reason I have stalled for the last couple of weeks, and once I start on the 50,000iu that it would help the stall as well. I guess wshful thinking. I hate being in a stall, I get so down... and then I have to deal with the mental stuff of not eating to cope with feeling down.

Did you ever find an answer as to why your WBC and RBC were elevated? Were you dehydrated?

This was a great thread to read. I also have low D levels and are on the 10,000iu dosage. Just started after surgery. and Katrina I am stalling too. I am still losing, but a lot more slowly since taking the vits. Not discouraged though. I know I will keep losing. I am just so excited that I am getting rid of this fat I have carried for so long. I learn something new every day. One thing I know for sure....I HAVE to eat slower. Last night I had to go to play rehersal and I ate my chicken and spuds way too fast. Wasn't thinking and MAN did I pay the price. WHEW never again. But today I am ok, only tired is all.

Spoken with 3 nutritionist at Vitamin stores and strangely enough, they say "stay away from dairy. Dairy stops the absorption of d and iron... All said to stick with almond milk and take Vitamin C. Gonna do more research.

Really? I drink a lot of milk and eat lots of cheese. I'm Iron deficient anemic and have low Vitamin D.....

Well I got my Vitamin d level back up from 20 to 44! But my iron count and ferritin are low.

Will have to look into this as well.

Calcium might interfere with Iron absorption (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1600930) but *not* with Vitamin D absorption. As another poster shared, Vitamin D actually helps the body absorb Calcium (http://jn.nutrition.org/content/134/11/3137.full).

Anyway, here is that study about Vitamin D and obesity: http://www.plosmedicine.org/article/info%3Adoi%2F10.1371%2Fjournal.pmed.1001383

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
