I haven't, (at least not straight) but you are talking about something pretty sweet (sugary) and apples are pretty fiberous. May be difficult for the immediate post-op patient. There is a reason they suggest *clear* liquids. The stomach is the mechanical part of digestion, so ...

Does there make a difference?

Well yeah, drinking it would seem a bit strange (vinegar?), cooking with it would make more sense. But on this board we seem to have to get clarification for a lot things :)

So has anyone tried this post op?

I am actually taking something stronger but along the same lines of apple cider vinegar because all my blood tests came back that I am not absorbing the Protein I eat. So I am on an herbal hydrochloric acid which helps my body break down the protein better for absorption. It has made all the difference!!! But I did start with apple cider vinegar- took a tablespoon with each meal. Now I take a capsule with each meal. I am 7 months out and started this routine at 6 months without any trouble.

I periodically use it. I usually put 1-2 table spoons in some warm Water with a little bit of honey, sort of like a tea. It helps with indigestion, acid reflux, and curbs my appetite. I'm a fan! Hate the smell though.

Drinking it straight is one of the oldest weight loss methods in the books. I also use it in cabbage salads and dressings, too.

Check THIS out.

Where did u get those capsukes at? Were they prescribed?

So I have tried two different capsules. You can get them I think online, I bought mine through my acupuncturist. Xymogen is the brand and it's called GastrAcid. And another good one is by Standard Process called Zypan. But I would definitely get professional advice before taking on your own. Good Luck!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
