How about protein powder in diet sprite?

Recommended Posts

Isopure like another poster said. They have a lot of flavors that might work. There are also unflavored Proteins you could add. But in not sure how well it would mix. Also there are a lot of Protein shots that might taste good.

What is a tolerable liquid Protein? I tried body fortress fruit punch and cold barely swallow it. (I'm pre- op). Is it better refrigerated?

I am relieved to hear that some Dr allow carbonated drinks after a period of time!

I was wondering if anyone has tried this. Putting Protein Powder in diet sprite. Either a flavored Protein powder, or also add a crystal light to it or something similar?

You are not to have carbonated drinks but the crystal light in vanilla protein is really good

Well, that isn't what I asked (whether or not to stay away from carbonated drinks). From my research I see no good reason to stay away from them. It feels just like drinking Water to me (and yes I get in all my water). No discomfort or gas and I don't see how people thinks this "stretches" their stomachs. Anyhoo, I was just curious if anyone had an opinion about the taste of the Protein powder in the diet sprite.

I agree 100% carbonation has NOT stretched my sleeve and I am 20 months post-op. I drink 2-3 20oz sparkling waters like La Croix everyday.. I have good restriction and have maintained my weight with in 5 pounds. I think whatever works for you is good. Give the concoction a try! :-)

Well, they don't, bubbles don't stretch your stomach. You burp if there is indeed excess air. i drink it over ice and have no issues. Honestly I think some surgeons just tell their patients to stay away from carbonated drinks because they are afraid us former fat people will start drinking sugary sodas again. Anyway, I tried this tonight for anyone interested. I used unflavored Unjury Protein powder, diet sprite, and the wild berry Dasani flavored droplet thingies. Delicious!!!

Try taking a scoop of Protein powder and mixing it with a premade cup of sugar free Jello pudding. Tastes pretty good, tiny portion and lots of protein.

Thanks! The chocolate powder does sound pretty gross. I'm curious if a fruity flavored Protein powder could make a diet sprite taste somewhat similar to a cherry limeade or something from sonic. Adding powder to anything other than sprite does sound gross to me too.

Healthwise has a TON of fruity Protein powders. I mix the lemonade flavor with Crystal Light and Water and it has 15g of protein and tastes divinely refreshing. Totally like Sonic's lemonade. Definitely check out Health Wise products. Cherry, cran grape, mixed berry, orange, strawberry kiwi, and lemonade are some of the possibilities :)

I figured the unflavored Unjury powder would work quite well. I am glad it did @jennlg2.

You go jenn! I must admit that I don't find the notion too appetizing, but if you like it I hope you get lots of Protein in that way. I haven't tried any carbonated beverages but if I wake up one day and decide I want it - then I shall have it. I've tried several other "no-no's" though and am getting along very well.

Pay no mind to the negativity you get in some of the replies.Do what feels right for you and use common sense and you will be fine. Oh but wait ! I forgot that those of us who make their own decisions must have no common sense if we are to believe the negative folks:)

Isopure has the pre mixed. There are a lot of flavors. For the first few days post op I couldn't do super cold. But about four days out I started adding a few ice cubes and blending the Isopure to almost a slushy consistency. It watered down the flavor some so it wasn't too sweet. The fruit punch is pretty strong. There is a pineapple banana flavore that I liked too. They sell them at GNC. But even the strong flavors can be diluted with Water so they aren't so sickening sweet. Also you can try adding unflavored Protein Powder to crystal light or mio. I prefer the Syntrax unflavored, but a lot of people speak highly of the unjury unflavored too.

To the op, that just gave me an idea.

What about diet sprite with some Isopure pre mixed? I think there might be a few flavors that would taste decent.

I personally drink only diet soda. No Water. 3.5 months post op and my doc has no problem. 71lbs down so no restriction issues. Why don't we answer the question asked instead of judging?

I mixed unflavored now foods whey Protein isolate with Decaf iced tea sweetened with Splenda. I found it tastes a little milky. I will try the fruity route.

Have you thought of trying the sodastream flavored syrups & flavorless Protein powder?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
