rollargirl 210 Posted March 20, 2013 And if its just to make sure my stomach is empty why can't I have a Starbucks hot chocolate? Lol they're filling ... Wonder why it has to be clear?
Kristina J. 581 Posted March 20, 2013 I would at least ask very specifically what would happen if you showed up with a BMI lower than 30. I only say that since you are so low. I wouldn't ever suggest purposefully trying to gain weight. That seems really counterproductive, but I would be very direct with your coordinator about your concerns. If you don't get an actual answer or she doesn't include how much weight you can lose and still be sleeved, keep asking until you get the answer.
mzbzfl 23 Posted March 20, 2013 Having gone on presurg diet required by Dr and been sleeved on 3-13-13, now home and feeling fairly good, I can tell you the reason for the presurg is to drastically reduce the size of your liver so surgery is much easier for the Dr. When us chubbies eat all that bad food, our livers get really big because of all the fat, etc. and that can cause problems during surgery sometimes, so the presurg diet shrinks it and makes it all easier. Also the reason you don't want to have anything but CLEAR FLUIDS for a couple days before surgery is you don't want your colon to be full of foods that require digestion processes because after surgery you could crap all over yourself either in bed or they may have to get you up and to the bathroom multiple times until you get rid of it all. My Dr says the reason I had such an easy time was I followed these instructions to the letter.
julielle 199 Posted March 20, 2013 Once I completed my preop testing I was allowed a regular farewell meal, I think I ate buffalo?!?!?, and a minimum of two adult beverages. I had one. Amanda Rae Did he say a MINIMUM of 2 adult drinks (as in he wanted you to get drunk?) or a maximum? Hah

Jesser 295 Posted March 20, 2013 Looking for the best opinion because I'm now going alone I haven't had my surgery yet. I'm still in the researching stage as well. It's a tough decision for sure! Both of those docs of in a center of excellence, I'm sure you would be fine with either one. I have researched both of those.
