Nicolanz 1,484 Posted March 19, 2013 I'm on the paragaurd IUD. It has no hormones so no moodiness or weight gain. I've been on the depo shot and it made me horribly moody and impossible to lose weight no matter what I did.
thinathart 197 Posted March 19, 2013 I take the depo provera injections. I really like it and it works well for me.
Kristina J. 581 Posted March 19, 2013 All hormonal birth controls make me feel that way and help me gain weight. After I had a blood clot (in my brain of all places) after my last daughter, I was no longer allowed to be on hormonal BC. I was going to go with ParaGuard as well since its hormone free and works for 10 years, but ended up needing a hysterectomy instead! That is awesome BC lol I would talk to your GYN about the IUD! @RealScoobyDoo 94 Posted March 19, 2013 Yeah, the Paragard IUD is great birth control and hormone free,, but it's primarily the estrogen in the birth control that makes women bloated. Some good progesterone-only methods are Novasure ( goes in your upper arm and lasts 3 years) and the Mirena IUD, whih lasts 5. The mini-pill is progesterone-only, but in my profession we call it the "see you in 9 months" method. Next to impossible to take it right. Kristina J. 581 Posted March 19, 2013 Kristina sorry to hear bout ur blood clot...Hope ur feeling well Thanks! It really wasn't bad. It really was just some bad headaches, an MRI and a few weeks of blood thinners. Sounds a lot scarier than it actually was at the time! After the initial headaches, I never felt it or was bothered by it at all. And that was 2 years ago. No problems since! Just a prime example of my children trying to kill me! Haha

nishia99 29 Posted March 20, 2013 I'm on bc and before I started taking it I was loosing about 2-3 pounds a week and once I started taking them I didn't loose for like 5 weeks...I have just now started to loose like 1 pound a week so far and this is going on the 2nd week that I have went down on the scale...I am not sure if I should get off or just wait it out. I am only 4 months post op and I can NOT get pregnant so it's a catch 22...help!!!
srpiccollo 19 Posted March 20, 2013 My doctors will not let me use anything but condoms and the depo shot because the hormone levels change so much after they are afraid I will get pregnant. So we are acting like teenagers and using condoms lol. They have had some patients get pregnant too soon off of hormone bc treatments and ban us now. I know they are on the conservative end of a lot of other things too.
ambermerrell80 1 Posted March 20, 2013 I'm on birth control (seasonique), but my husband just had a vasectomy, so soone enough we won't have to worry at all! We're also using condoms as a back up method until he gets a sperm free sample.
