When I see those posts, I don't read them so it doesn't bother me......The people who post those are dealing with their fears and anxiety and are looking for some relief. There thoughts are telling them that their a failure and had made a big mistake......A lot of people don't know how to go back a search for past topics so they are looking for support from others today, in this moment.... This is a support group and there will be a million more posts like these. So I recommend just not reading them and going to a post that interest you. You are doing great on your weight loss and have most likely experienced stalls and what not...... CONGRATS! :)

I love the threads where people complain about stalls and slow loss but in the same post write about their lack of Water, Protein and exercise ect; They create a thread looking for answers when the answer to their problem is in their post. geezz I'm an ass :P

My pet peeve is when someone makes a post and then gets bitchy about the responses.

If you can't respect people's posts, then don't create a thread.

Ms Skinnines has nailed this one, BTW

I posted this on another thread a little while ago. In light of this new thread, I think it bears repeating.

While I can somewhat appreciate what you say, if it was that easy there would be no needs for boards such as this. The truth is that slow losing can be very discouraging and can cause people to throw up their hands and consider themselves a failure and go back to the old habits that got them here to begin with. I've been in a very slow losing slide for the last month, losing a total of 5 pounds in the last 30 days. I've eaten my calories, watched my carbs, done the carido etc, but the weight is just coming off slowly. I wasn't discouraged early on, but now it is starting to come and I can see myself creeping back into where I was before. Weightloss, regardless of how it is approached, either surgically or through the old fashioned methods, it tough. Don't you feel that it we were all eating the right number of calories and doing the right number of jumping jacks that we would be skinny in no time flat? It just isn't that simple for some. It is tough to come on here and read that someone who was sleeved after me, has lost 70 or 80 pounds. It's hard to read that someone is losing 4 to 5 pounds a week for 5 to 6 months and you are busting your hump to lose 1. This is where I was before, I'm losing the weight that I've lost maybe 10 or 15 times. Yes I expect better results and a faster weight loss and I don't think that is totally unreasonable. So I can certainly empathize with the OP. Hopefully that will give you some perspective to "understand people" a bit better.

I think some people are just looking for a little encouragement. I don't see anything wrong with that. This is a life changing event & if we can't lean on each other (who are all going thru the same thing), then who else can we lean on? I don't know...sometimes a little compassion can go a long way. Maybe they NEED to be reminded to drink their Water or whatever the other rules are. (I don't know yet since I am still going thru the initial steps.) I'm just worried now that if I come here looking for encouragement, someone will start a snarky thread about me & that would just break my heart & not make me want to come back to ask questions.

As I say to my children all the time, be kind to people, so they are kind back to you. Just a little kindness goes a long way.

~ Peace

Lol I am far from cranky! It's a public message board so anyone is free to post whatever they want. I was just agreeing with another poster. I was not talking about "you" personally.

Truth is there is tons of post just like yours complaining about the same thing. So all I was saying is it goes both ways.

Here we go again! Haha!

Ms. Skinniness always knows what's up!

I'm guilty of this too. Not posting about it but thinking gaw, this may not work for me! I only lose weight a couple days out of the month and have gone a whole month without a loss. Sometimes I just want to scream! I guess I thought I'd be down 100 pounds in 3 months, haha. But when I look at the whole picture, I've done amazing! 58 pounds in 4 1/2 months!

We've all took extreme measures to lose weight. I think it's pretty normal if not expected to have some anxiety about whether or not we made the right choice. My point is, I understand where those people are coming from and know they are just wanting someone to tell them this is going to work.

I did not mean to be Snarky, just saying that Loosing 30 to 40 lbs in a couple of months is GREAT.... NOT a slow loser....I felt irritated, cause It is all I have lost and Think it is Awesome could NOT have done it before surgery. That none of us gained ALL the Weight in a few Months and NOT gonna lose it all in a few ... Just me Venting, Thats all ...No harm Ment.

I just wish you would have posted this over in the Rants and Raves forum instead of the Tell Your Story forum ...

People looking for encouragement are instead greeted with this ...

Another pet peeve of mine ... folks not posting their threads in the appropriate forum ... :D

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
