Surgery on the 14th. I'm down 15lbs. Is this on track, fast, or slow for this period in my journey? Very curious!!!

Thanks in advance once again :)

I had surgery on Wednesday, February 20th this year. By Saturday the 23rd I had lost 15 pounds. I would think it is quite normal. However, I think it just depends on your body. Most people that are four weeks out like me have lost around 25 pounds, I believe (that is what I've heard when I ask). Yet, I have lost at least 32 when I checked on Sunday. I'm having a hard time getting everything in, so I know it's not because the diet. I am not able to get much pureed food down either.... so my soft diet will now be delayed.

16 pounds down in 6 days, so about the same. I love it and hope it stays that way.

That's how I feel like I'm going to be since I'm having a hard time with my fluids. Freakin gas.

You all are doing well. Don't get discouraged when it slows down. Our bodies have to catch up to our weight lose. But this gives you a great start to your journey :0)

Congrats!! We should keep in touch, my surgery was same day. I'm down 13 and feel like its not good but have to remind myself I'm still healing!! I'm having a hard time with liquids. Only got in 24 oz of liquid & 18 grams of Protein yesterday. How are you doing? Anything you particularly like that I can try. Nothing is tasting good to me.

I'm thinking this is why I've only lost 5 since surgery 3-6. I had lost 17 the week n half before surgery. Maybe my body is still trying to catch up??

I think it's awesome, slow fast OR average! I've lost 12 in a month (still pre-op) and I'm STARVING!!! lol Like, it might actually be making me blind! Haha Just remember how hard it was to lose just 5lbs pre-sleeve. You're rockin it!! :)

It's mostly Water weight at that point. Very soon you will be melting away the fat. But do the math....3500 calories per pound to lose weight. You only burn so much. But still, enjoy the ride because a new healthier life is ahead of you.

VERY possible. Because my 5 day pre op was a big fat failure. I lost 2 pounds!!! I'm sure if I'd have lost pre op weight, it wouldn't be this fast. And butterbeans notion that it's Water weight for me is also a good point. Mmmmmmm butterbeans. Dang it! So hungry lol

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
