Better or worse than expected?

Recommended Posts

Just wondered if any of you Sleevers had surgery and if it was less extreme pain than you expected it to be? Or if the whole journey in itself (food & all) was easier than expected? Hoping to be one of those but preparing anyway.

much much easier than I expected. Had one dose of pain med after surgery then didn't need anymore. I made sure I walked a lot before and right after surgery. I think it really helps with the pain and recovery factor.

I really didnt have a whole lot of pain after I got out of the hospital, I only used the pain meds once, in the hospital they kept me on the morphin didnt feel nothing, lol

as far as food that was not hard but not easy at the same time if that makes since, I dont crave anything anymore and love that and I am not hungry all the time like I use to be, the hard part is the not being able to eat much, had to learn my stopping point, lol

Much less than I could have imagined! Some soreness around incisions, but I never needed any meds other than Tylenol once home from the hospital.

That's great! Hope I'm like that too. I had a Hysterectomy a cpl years ago and was out shopping all day right out of the hospital. My doctor was not happy about that. Lol! Keeping my fingers crossed to have another experience like that

I was terrified of having unrelieved pain so I told the doc he better give me plenty of meds...I had the PCA pump (you hit the button for your own dose). I kept hitting the button because I was scared but it just made me sleepy but no pain. My hubby on the other hand said he was in pain and they had to change his meds several times before he got relief. I know I could have gone without the meds it was just nervousness on my part. No pain post surgery except when they pulled my drain, yet my hubby had no pain with this! So I think everyone's experience is quite different...I would however talk to your doc beforehand so you have a protocol in mind...like do you do better with some meds versus others? Overall this journey has been a breeze for me and a little harder for my hubby. I can pretty much eat anything, just smaller portions. I am also slower to lose weight, took me 2 months to lose 30 lbs, yet hubby lost 40lbs in less than 4 weeks!

Pre op diet was hard but you get through it. Post op pain lessened much faster than I thought. Got off the morphine the day after surgery and stopped the at home narcotics two or three days after coming home. Took liquid tylenol off and on for a couple more days and that was it.

The recovery was harder than I expected, only because I have friends who had the surgery who told me how easy it was. After 3 weeks I felt completely normal and eating has been no issue for me.

I decided to just prepare myself for real pain and if it's better than expected then I will be pleasantly surprised. The only way for me to calm my nerves is to research every aspect of this surgery. I just want to go into it with very little surprises. I'm mainly curious about the pain because I have to fly home a cpl days after getting sleeved.

I expected easy because of what had heard. But it was not. My first 2 weeks were very hard pain wise. I'm just 3 weeks post op and finally off pain meds. I had a few bad days of extreme nausea despite meds. I also was chasing around a 2 year old. I think may have contributed to my prolonged recovery. food has been hard. Lots of head hunger. Good luck. Hope you do good like everyone else. I think I'm the odd ball.

I thought it was MUCH easier than child birth :) You are sore and sore then each day you get better.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
