HELP! 6 weeks and NO LOSS!

Recommended Posts

Okay so I was sleeved on 10/8/12...and up until Feb I was losing. I am at a total loss of 85lbs which is amazing but I havent lost anything in about 6 weeks...is this normal? Anyone else have a stall this long? any ways to kick start the losing again?

Thanks!

I don't know if this helps but I was sleeved on October 9 and have lost 58. I haven't lost anything for a month and have actually bounced up a pound. I go to the doctor on Thursday and am scared what he is going to say. This is my second stall, but what I learned with the last one is that when I stalled, everything seemed to tighten up and my clothes got big. That is what is happening now-the pants that I bought in January are now huge. I know it is scary-but maybe your body is just taking a timeout to catch up with the huge loss you have had so far. Be honest with your eating and your fluids (I know I haven't been tracking and need to!) and it will come off. I am starting to freak out a bit so I am writing this as much to encourage myself as I am you!!

If you cannot lose right now the first thing I always tell people is to make sure you do not GAIN. Sometimes thats the first thing people start doing for whatever the reasons. The scale stops moving in the direction they want so caution gets thrown to the wind.

I would suggest you focus on maintaining this 85 pound weight loss for one additional month, then redirect toward losing again. I don't suggest fighting your body right now because you may not have a ton of success. You just forced it to lose 85 pounds in 4ish months it looks like and you might need to "catch your breath" so to speak

I am in the same boat except I am going on 10 weeks with no loss. I am getting worried that maybe my stomach has stretched out. I know that it hasn't but that is where my mind goes....twisted I know. My surgery was Nov 23rd and I have lost 35 lbs and I am very happy with that. I had went on a life style change back in July of 2011 so total I have lost 65 lbs. Very proud but now worried. Any thoughts???

Have you tried upping your Water and Protein intake? I would also cut down on cards and sugars. Upping activity should also help end your stall.

Thanks for the replies...its is comforting to know that I am not the only one and this may just be another area of these unchartered waters for me. I am making some additional changes to get myself back on track... like paying close attention to my restriction and also eating SLOWLY...geez that is still my biggest struggle...I am taking all your advice! thanks again

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
