Worried about the restriction.

Recommended Posts

I'm almost 5 days out. I am having a hard time getting in all my Fluid because of how full I always feel. I believe I still have a bit of gas in me, and have had bowel movements, but I can just use the reassurance that this is normal. My gas pain is still very much around. Just burp and fart already!!!!

I'm really worried about my upcoming full liquid phase (clear liquids now), as I can not imagine having to drink Protein Shakes on top of Water. Hurts my belly just thinking about it.

I was aware that my Dr goes a bit more aggressively, in that he makes the sleeve in the smaller side. He says that because of this, the profession of the diet takes a bit longer. I'm kind of hoping I'm not expected to do Proteins next week, but I doubt it. That wouldn't be healthy.

We CAN do it. But I can't right now! Lol.

Each day gets a little easier, just take it slow.Don't worry about to much or your Protein Shakes, just try and stay hydrated. Sip, sip, sip, like all day pretty much. I was around two weeks and finally could drink fluids a little like normal. Not chugging but not sipping either. As far as sounds you will have lots of tha, especially when you start soft foods Totally normal now. My Dr says its cause all the air we take in when we eat and drink . Our stomachs only want food no extra room for air. Hence all the gurggles.:)

Don't sweat it. Just focus on getting all your liquids in. You are only 5 days out now, at this point your capacity is increasing daily. Just remember, just because you are allowed to progress to the next stage doesn't mean you have to. My standard advice is don't even think about Protein till you are meeting hydration goals. Then add as you are able. You'll be meeting both goals before you know it.

I was the same way. That little pill cup full of Water looked like a gallon to me. This from a guy who used to down 2 pitchers, shots, and supper in one sitting.

Lots of swelling yet. Don't worry about getting it all down. Do the best you can. It will get better. I still restrict my drinking and eating at a year out but it is nothing like it was at first.

On day 7 I saw my doctor. In my first week I was a mess. Can't get all the required stuff in. OTR is right, we don't have to move onto the next stage til it is tolerable. On day 7 when I saw my doc he told me not to worry about my Vitamins, my Protein, just stay hydrated. He said "this is not for a month, it is for a lifetime.". Try to relax, everything gets better & better. You will be able to increase slowly. After I saw my doc I was able to realize all is normal & I have been fine since then. I am happy your journey has started, mine is rockin

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
