I cheated by drinking chicken broth.... who knew?

Recommended Posts

So I've been doing my pre-op diet for the past week. This weekend I really wanted something savory aside from my evening "meal" of Soup. I'm doing the Nutrimed plan for my pre-op diet and I figured that since I can have chicken broth after surgery that surely it was okay to have now. I had some the past two days and called the NUT today to check, she says no. I haven't had anything that I wasn't supposed to and haven't even gotten in all of my packets of stuff per day in each day. I've been hungry, even felt like I was starving at times but haven't given in. I was working hard on not cheating on this diet at all and now I feel so disappointed. Just hoping that I didn't mess anything up ha ha! Back to the strict, no chicken broth, diet...

That prepping diet made me feel like I would fail afterward..... So untrue! Things will be so different. Hang in there! Only thing I was allowed to have u limited was sf Jello and sf Popsicles. Try them! Helps

Cheer up! You are doing great! It's weird you can't even have chicken broth... did they say why?

This will be the last time you'll feel like you're depriving yourself.

Don't beat yourself up. You can't change what's been done and you made the best decision you could with the information you had at the time.

Good luck with your surgery,

Deano

I'm on a liquid diet too. I was told you could have broth. My Dr said if its see through then it's considered liquid. Just watch the sodium. Your NUT-- is NuTs!

I am also on a liquid/high Protein diet and broth is one of the few things I am actually allowed! Did they say why no broth for Pre-op?

Hmm I wonder why? I could have clear broths. Maybe the sodium? I used kitchen basics brand bc it was the lowest sodium I could find.

Good luck!

I am on the pre-op diet that is called Nutrimed. I'm not sure if it is particular as far as what can go with it or not and I'm not sure what the exact reasoning is behind it but oh well. I appreciate all of the encouragement! I think I am most frustrated with myself that I cheated, even if I didn't mean to. I have cooked for my husband and our son, I've made a chocolate shake for my husband, I've picked up Wendy's and Sonic for them as well as watched them eat Taco Bell and McDonalds since starting my pre-op diet (my husband is not overweight and is waiting til after my surgery to "do better" lol). I haven't so much as licked a finger or tasted anything I was cooking. Do you know how hard it is to cook without tasting to know if it is seasoned right or not?? My sweet son offered me his burned french fries and call me crazy but those are my favorite! I haven't come close to cheating on anything good but then chicken BROTH! If I was going to cheat I could have done it with something that tasted way better! ha ha ha! I'm determined that I'm not going to slip up and I guess if I had to accidentally cheat it was best to do it with chicken broth and not something that could have possibly actually been bad. I'm going to keep sticking with it, as tough as it may be. This is for my life, my husband, my kids and our future, if I can't stick with a two week pre-op diet then what in the heck am I preparing to go through a permanent procedure to change the rest of my life for? I'm in it for the long haul.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
