fp9107 121 Posted March 18, 2013 How long did it take for everyone to come off of their medicine completely after being sleeved?
Pixie Dust 526 Posted March 18, 2013 You can only go with what your doctor recommends but I am type 2, & with cutting out carbs & taking a 500mg pill of Glumetza daily, I always test under 6. My doc told me to stop the meds when I go on the pre-op liquid diet. He said he will re-evalutate me weeks after the surgery, because more than likely, I won't need any of my pills anymore (I'm on BP pills & Colesterol pills & a Water pill.) Hooray!!!! I wish the same for you!
mokee 588 Posted March 18, 2013 Was off of insulin for 2 weeks after surgery but had to go back on it again, but a lot less. I still take 2000 ml metforin also.
johnlatte 1,232 Posted March 18, 2013 I was on 2000mg of Metformin and 100mg of Actos. (along with other non diabetic stuff). I was sleeved in November, and am down to no Actos, and 1000mg Metformin. My A1C went from 7.0 to 6.0 in that timeframe. I am going back for more blood work in June and expect to go down another 500mg of Met. I am backing of slowly, so my goal is at 1 year post sleeve I will be 100% at goal weight and drug free. I am already off my cholesterol medicine and half a dose down on my HBP meds. Pookeyism 1,143 Posted March 18, 2013 That is not a time-set thing. When/if depends on your A1c. Do remember, if you go back to a high carb lifestyle, your A1c can go back up. I have been in remission for a year, but I test every other morning, and a few other random times a week, and I a1c every 3 months.
