My nut is a NUT! --where should I be at 4 weeks out?

Recommended Posts

My nut says things like don't focus on Protein so much and you'll get it in. Or I'll ask what stage is next and she'll say...we'll see! Needless to say i'm in the process of getting another one. But in the meantime I would love your help.

Question 1: How many carbs should we intake to continue weight loss at 4 weeks?

Question 2: How much calories and Water intake is ideal for weight loss at 4 weeks?

Question 3: Do we need certain amount of fat grams too?

What are some of your daily diets consisting of (7am-bedtime timeline) so i can get an idea of proper foods and time management..

I know for someone who researched for 6months before having this surgery i sound clueless but the diet after was never made clear...

Thanks for your help.

Keep in mind every Dr & Nut have their own rules, but mine said I should be getting 600-700 calories, less than 40g. of carbs, don't eat anything that has more than 10g. of sugar per serving, and to drink 48+ oz. of liquid a day and not to worry about anything else. Having said that, on days that I go over on my carbs my estimated weight loss is actually less than on days I stay under the 40g. But, either way, I am down 40 lbs. and will be 3 months out tomorrow...but I have lost 12" and went from a 24 to a 16/18. :D

Mine: daily, 600-800 cal/ 60+ protein/ 64+fluids/ less than 40carbs and Stay away from sugar. I live by this and tweak it depending on excercise.

Uh ... IMO, you NUT is absolutely correct. Everybody is going to be different depending on their tolerances and how quickly their stomach heals and the swelling goes down. What works for one person is not going to work for another. Some folks have no problems getting in all of their liquids and Proteins a week post-op. Others, such as myself, took a lot longer. Some folks become lactose intolerant, have reflux issues ... etc ...

Think about it. Weight loss is going to happen. It has to. You are going to be consuming far fewer calories than you are expending. Are you looking for weight loss or fat loss?

It is my experience, when I see posts such as this, the expectations for weight loss far exceed what is reality. You have made the decision to have WLS and all you are concerned about is losing weight. Do you have any interest in feeding your body what it needs? Is your plan to do a low-carb diet like we all have tried a half dozen times before we had the sleeve? Since the low-carb diet worked so well for us before we had the sleeve, do you think it is going to work now?

Sounds like your NUT is telling you something you don't want to hear, so you are going to fire them. You will always be able to find someone who tells you what you want to hear, so why even bother? Same thing here on VST. Someone will always validate what you want to do whether it be good or bad ...

Remember, it was our best thinking that got us to this point, so why do we believe we really know what is best for us? It might be time to be willing to do what the experts suggest ... at least for awhile.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
