one week until a new begining

Recommended Posts

I cannot believe that in just one week I get banded. What an exciting time. It went sooo quickly! Thankfully, I am in good health, aside from the fact that I am about 135 lbs over weight, so the process went quickly. I am COMPLETLY confident in my surgeon. My mom actually had this procedure done as well...so I take comfort in that. Unfortunaly, she was not very sucessful, and went on to have gastric bypass. But here were are 2 years later and she is 150lbs smaller and 100% healthier.

I guess my biggest "fear" is that I will not have a significant weight loss. I am soo tired of failed diets and weight loss attempts...

Any words of encouragement....I am open.

Hello,

I am one of the ones who has tried and failed at many diets only to gain it back plus some. I was only banded on November 9, 2006 but I have already lost 21 pounds. It is a lifestyle change but not as hard as I thought it would be. I think because the band really helps alot. Hopefully soon I can start some excercising but for now I just walk as much as I can. Trust me if I can do this so can you. It will work for you if you want it to. I have a couple of co-workers who have had this done. Out of the three, one has had complete sucess with it. The other two are loosing but very, very slow but that is because they still choose to stuff themselves with fast food and soda and candy. So it is a combination of the band and your determination to loose the weight. Just reading what you have written I can tell that you will have sucess with this. Good luck and keep us posted.

Kim :clap2:

Its important to rember that lapband is not just a magical solution...there is still work to be done but it is a big step in the right direction...as long as you follow eating regulations, up your exercise program you cant fail. It can be slow at times but don't be dishearted just plow your way through the long term benefits are worth the fustrations in the short term. Look forward to hearing of your progress.

Welcome Lucy

I have had my lapband for over a year now and am a very satisfied customer... the complications are against the norm...I know many other fellow lapbanders that have had a great experience with lapband...I suspect (touch wood) that you wont be any different...sure there are risks but hon there are risks in anything...This is your opportunity to turn your life around...your existance as you know it...I don't regret it and I sincerely hope that you wont either...

best wishes.

:) Becky

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
