BigFatLoser 331 Posted March 18, 2013 I'm 3 days out..almost 4... and everytime I take a sip of Water, I feel it travel down and then culminate into a rather painful gurgle. I am beginning to hate drinking!!!! Is this normal? The gas is is still very much in my system, so it wouldn't shock me to learn if this was normal, but I'm slightly paranoid after having had such a difficult hospital stay. Thanks everyone. Sassygirl06 962 Posted March 18, 2013 Yes...it took me about 10 days for that feeling to go away. It took me about a month before I was able to actually take a sip of Water and not have it hurt in some way. Now at 19 months post op I can drink like a normal person again. I can even gulp water, which was huge for me because I have always been a gulper of water. I don't feel like my thirst is quenched without having a lot of water at one time. Susie1226 138 Posted March 18, 2013 Same thing happened to me. Was better by day 6 on. Sometimes I get a noisy tummy but it happens with Water and/or food. I remember drinking water and feeling it go down at the same time gas came up and somewhere in my esophagus they met and pass each other up. It will get better. enigmachik 403 Posted March 18, 2013 Yes, this is completely normal. It will start to get better and better over time. It takes quite awhile, but you will notice steady improvement week after week.
