MizNola 25 Posted January 10, 2014 Hi Everyone- I'm gathering my tests and info. To meet with Dr.Lavin at Surgical Specialists. I go from feeling sure and excited about this decision to thinking it's nuts to go through with it. I just know I have issues with food and need help. The idea of not being able to eat what I love is scary. Feel like I'm preparing for a break up. Any help on the mental process and what it's really like after surgery would be helpful. I know there is no going back.

I know there is no going back. I thought the same thing, but it is the best thing I ever did! After surgery, you would actually be surprised at how you don't even really miss what you used to love. Later on down the line (I am almost 7 months out), you can eventually have a bite or two of what you loved before as a treat and still feel great! I am down 102 lbs since surgery and don't regret it a bit! Good luck in your journey!!!
sissy13 138 Posted January 10, 2014 I felt same way but its not too bad. I have my days sometimes when I think what have I done but when I get on that scale its all worth it. I dont really care to eat like I use to but I can't so I don't dwell on it. I feel so much better and looking better too (people notice me morr now love it). 1 Aline728 reacted to this
Janiepuff 1 Posted January 11, 2014 It is very scary. But you have to remember what is more important. You will be able to eat the things you love again. It is just going to take a little time, and in the mean time, you are going to be losing weight and feeling better physically. This too shall pass and you are going to look and feel fantastic! 1 Aline728 reacted to this
MizNola 25 Posted January 11, 2014 Thanks for the encouragement. I feel like I'm going through this mental shift to prepare. I'm preoccupied with eating things I won't have again (or at least for awhile). Also, preparing to give up my old identity. My sister had a bypass 13 years ago and had struggles with alcoholism soon after. Glad to say she's been recovered for sometime, but it brought up more challenges than she expected. I want to be prepared to handle my emotions when I can't eat them away.

MizNola 25 Posted January 11, 2014 I must add that I am excited for the change and results to come that I've been struggling to Get for two decades. They say some years are questions and other years are answers. Planning for 2014 to be an answer! 1 Corky6984 reacted to this
