Shopping for a Dr. in Mexico

Recommended Posts

mysherrijo, did you have your fills done back in Mexico or with a dr in the states? I'm trying to decide which way to go and if it makes a difference. Thanks

kwhenrykerr, I have enjoyed your posts. They are so encouraging. 2 days left...leave Sunday for Dr. Ortiz. I'm good with losing slowly after a June reunion, but I badly want to have 50 pounds off by then. Y'all keep me in your prayers on Monday. MY BIG DAY!!! New beginnings, a year to celebrate!

Hi Robin,

Just checking in to see if you are back home yet. How are you feeling? I leave for San Diego on the 25th and have surgery on the 26th.

You are definately in my prayers.

Your buddy from Ok/Co.

Michelle

Michelle, I am home and doing wonderful. Best thing of my life...and I would do it again in a heart beat. LOVE LOVE LOVE the team in Mexico...awesome. Had the best time...going back every year just to keep in touch. Lost 16 so far and its just been 4 days, but that also included the preop diet that I stuck to pretty faithfully. Please do keep in touch! I cleaned out all my email, so I don't know if I had your email address or not. Here's mine robbin58@cox.net

Hello everyone! I was banded on 11/2 in TJ with Dr. Huacuz and now its time for my fill. I have recontacted his office and they all have been great about being available for me to return there for my fill. I have looked around the Northern CA and haven't been happy with the options I have found. I am a little nervous about getting the first fill. It seems like a dream of a happy life. I am down 85+ pounds (pre/post) since I entered this journey. Thank you everyone for sharing your questions and all that answer. CJay

it is normal to be nervous about your first fill, we all go through that. i hope you are excited to finally start the losing stage. dr. huacuz is excellent at doing fills. he has done mine and i have been very happy with his judgment on how much to put in. try to be careful eating . i try small bite of something and wait a while to make sure it goes down ok. i also try not to eat after 6pm , since you can get acid reflux if you eat late and go to bed. when you lie down the acid will rise into the esophogus and burn your throat, thus making it swell and then you will feel yucky. so take it slow and have fun in tj. i always have a great time there. i love the people . dr huacuz and dr romero are the best. good luck and happy losing. ive lost 85lbs. it is coming off slower now that i am close to my goal weight. i had to step it up at the gym. catz:biggrin1:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
