Hi Mrs Byars, There is a forum specifically geared to pre-op questions here... and another geared to post-op questions if you want to research what it's like to be newly sleeved. Those forums are great because lots of our questions have already been answered. Use the search function on the home page to look up issues you'd like to research and there is bound to be a ton of information about that issue. BTW, my start weight was 352 and I'm down over 120 pounds at 18 months out. If you look at people's profiles, you can view their gallery pages and see the pictures they have posted. I have tons documenting my journey to today. I haven't heard of anyone who got sleeved that didn't lose a significant amount of weight. You won't be the first person to not lose any weight with the sleeve. Good luck! :)

My process has been 15+ months... but I had some snags along the way. I had to do 3 months of supervised weight loss, psych, cardio and gastro appts, ultrasound, and then had to mess around with insurance. I'm finally set for 3/27. :)

It depends on if your self pay or insurance. Self pay is usually pretty quick, insurance...well, it just depends on your ins requirements! You WILL lose weight...there's no way you can't! Now...how much depends on how will you follow your dr's advice. Remember..the sleeve is just a tool, you have to use it as such! Good luck!

I think it's impossible not to lose weight with the sleeve because our stomach has been made so much smaller that we can only get so much food into it. There are going to be bumps along the way (I recently went through one), but in the long run I think it works. Not only are we only able to eat a little bit of food at a time, but we are taught how to eat and how to make the right choices.

HOW LONG IS THE PROCESS?

MRS.BYARS

My answer is vague i'm afraid - everyone is different in the speed of getting approved

if you have all the proper requirements - high enough BMI - co-morbities - you should be approved in other words the "worse" you are, the better!! :( :)

i've heard people say it took them a few months, i've seen others that applied on a "Friday" and hear a positive response within the week

as others have said - you will have a very very small new tummy

following all the "rules" of drinking and eating little portions - not grazing (eating all day) you can't help but lose weight!!!!

btw - your fears are common to others, so you are not alone

good luck

My process took about 11-12 months because of insurance. I thought that sounded like forever but am really glad it went the way it did. I am now 6 months out and down 80 pounds.

I love my sleeve! It is the best thing I have ever done. I feel like a million bucks!!

Good luck to you

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
