I guess I was lucky in the sense that at 1 month I could eat anything and keep it down. chicken, steak ect was no problem. Soft foods would be thicker Soups, cheeses, meats cooked in a slow cooker ect. Do a search and you will find plenty of good choices.

I would stay clear of the juices and watermelon unless they are sugar free or calorie free. I know early out its great to be able to eat these things because its hard to eat just about anything. At a month out its time to really start tracking your foods and thinking twice about things you are eating.

My NUT said "anything you can smush with a fork" lol. Not sure if that helps, but basically if I can squish it, and it goes thru the tines then it counts for the soft stage.

Yep, or in my surgeon's words: Anything that you can chew to an applesauce consistency. It must be that consistency. If you can tell what you're eating, keep chewing!

I'm eating scrambled/fried eggs, soft cheese slices and sticks, refried Beans, pureed chili, shaved deli meat, light yogurt and sugar free pudding, pureed shredded chicken with hot sauce, etc.

I'm starting to eat a little rice and dal.. I'm Indian and pure veg.!!! It's hell! To get protiens so that my hair dnt fall off I hav to take carbs too! I tired chicken but I didn't like it! I stared at 115 kgs and now I'm 99! Really happy! But the diet really messes with my head!

I've said it before but will repeat- cottage cheese is an excellent source of Protein, and very tasty if you scramble 1/4 c of it with an egg.

Cottage cheese gives me a very pungent smell that comes out of my stomach once I'm done with it! I used to love it! Mum made really nice cottage cheese and peas but now it makes me really uncomfortable!!!

Fat free cottage cheese isn't available here.. We have tofu though. But It dsnt go with my tummy too! Worst of all I have been recently diagnosed with stones in my kidney! So I must minimise calcium!

There is tons of soft food options. Doesn't sound like you eat meat. I do now but was vegetarian for many years. Lentils, soft cheeses, Beans, eggs, hummus, soups/stews, over-steamed veggies, yogurt, vegetarian meat substitutes e.g. Morning Star Farms "sausage" patties, "meatballs". Keeping food soft and moist is key so I add different sauces like teriyaki, taco, Pasta Sauce, etc. I also soften hard foods in yogurt or pudding for example, I have been really low on Fiber so I bought All Bran Cereal and mixed it with low carb yogurt to soften before eating. Got 8 grams of Protein and 13 grams of fiber that way.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
