I am scheduled for LGB on the 5th of december. I am curious, how many of you have met your wl goals and if they your goals are the same as the surgeons?

I haven't even talked to my surgeon about a goal yet. I didn't want to pressure myself.

But, I have looked at some of those BMI charts so I have an idea of where I may want to be. Yes, I think I have a shot at getting there if I keep working hard.

Good luck with your surgery!

Still in progress. My doc told me on Friday when I went for a fill that I have exceeded his expectations and he'd be more than happy if I never lost another gram, he'd call it a very successful outcome, but that he was also more than happy to help me get to where I want to be.

It doesnt involve a lot more weight loss though, my main changes now need to come in the form of body composition, I've run regularly throughout the last year but its time now to hit the weights and really put some lean muscle on my body and shed some fat. What my actual weight does on the scales is pretty irrelevant to me from hereon in.

i think i might have put this in the wrong place? any suggestions? fairly new to the board and not banded yet, I was curious about success in wl after sx. What do you all think? Ive had 13 people vote thus far, (and maybe that is normal?) maybe I just need to be patient? (not very good at that) Thanks again and I appreciate those that have responded up to now. If there is a suggestion on where to post this for a better result please let me know.

Julie:)

I think you have it in the right area, it has just been a very busy time for people, not nearly as busy as usual around here.

And there could be more like me...my DH bought new computer junk at the Black Firday sales, and promptly screwed mine up, took us 2 days to straighten it out again!!! So I was AWOL!!!

As for my weight loss--I am thrilled with it. I am 7 months out, and am 74 pounds down as of this morning! I ate with the family for Thanksgiving, and did not gain a bit! In fact even with all the extras, I lost 1/2 a pound. While I know that is not a lot...it is a loss..over Thanksgiving!!!

I have managed to lose weight dieting before, albeit, nowhere near this amount of weight. But I alway felt deprived, and hungry, and due to those issues, I promptly gained it all back plus a few extra pounds. This band is amazing!!! I have no hunger, I have control, I can make wise choices, because I am not frantic about food. This surgery has been a blessing! I KNOW without a single doubt, I would not have lost and maintained any loss in the last 7 months without it. I have zero regrets about the surgery! Weight loss following surgery have been great....I am pleased, my Dr. is pleased...and he feels I am right on schedule. He watches my body fat ratio, encouraging me to exercise, and lose the fat not the muscle, and he is pleased with my losses.

If you don't get a lot of responses, bump your question occasionally, which will bring it back to the top.

Good Luck on your upcoming surgery---I fully believe you will be thrilled with the results!!!

Kat

thanks kat I am sure you are right, the dh reason is exactly why I got a laptop last year on black friday, so he cant touch my cpt, lol. I am so excited about my sx date (and the end of the prediet) i to have yo/yo for more than 17 years and been on every plan available....it was actually dh that recommended the sx for me (and handed over the dough) he has suffered weight related issues in the past although the other side of the spectrum (hes 6ft 10 and 165 when we met) so very supportive and understanding. He loves me the way I am but simply said if it bothers me he wants me to be healthy and happy and is willing to do anything to help. I am currently doing the prediet and mourning food!! this is all part of the process and I know if I pay attention to the feelings/emotions i am having i can learn to be healthy from every step of this process and that is the key. thanks again for your info and I will just be patient with responses. Have a GREAT week!

Julie

I have met my doctors goal, but not my personal goal. I started at 331 and my doctor set my goal at 126 based on average weight loss with the band. I met his goal in about 5 1/2 months. I had originally set my person goal for 190, but I accomplished loss so rapidly that I lowered my goal to 170. I am at 209 right now, so I think 170 is very reasonable. Also, I bet I would loose at least 20 pounds from a lower body lift. I have a lost of loose skin in my adbdomin and thigh area. I would say that it has been very successful for me. Very satisfied with the results.

My doctor never gave me a goal weight and I have not met my personal goal weight as I keep changing it. I am close though. Yesterday, my goal was 135lbs but today my goal is 120lbs.

Ty for posting telly, I have read many of your post over the last few weeks, you are truly an inspiration. I have to say though, I have seen your post of the after tt pics and I would be eladed if my bod looked like that!! Surly you are at a healthy BMI? BTW I suck at spelling so I apologize in advance. I wish you luck with your future goals (perfection is always a personal perspective) and hope I have similar success.

Lap band after almost 6 mo's has only helped me lose 20 lbs. I did the 1 lb a week thing when i was dieting - spent $8000 for nothing - eating right, exercising, keeping food diary. Guess i'm jsut the unlucky one :- (

There are days I hate this band, but for the most part I love it. I am doing very well. I made my "Dirty 30" g oal of 60 pounds a few weeks early. It is a long road. Day by day, day by day....that is all you can do!

I am a very "slow loser". I have not lost the weight as quickly as alot of bandsters, but most of the time I feel good about my progress. I have lost 37 lbs in the past 6 months. Losing the most quickly immediately post op. Then I have slowed down to 3-4 lbs per month. My doctor told me to expect it to take 18 months to 2 years to achieve my goal of 139 lbs. And that he was ok with 1/2 lb to 1 lb per week. 4 lbs a month doesn't seem like much BUT....

for the 1st time in YEARS, my scales are slowly moving down instead of up.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
