I'm there with you! March 25 is right around the corner and I'm so excited! I am nervous about it but I think that is normal. I'm getting through this preop diet as well as I can. No cheating but man it has been tough. I'm glad to be finding some people that are having surgery the same day I am. We need to keep up with each other!

I'm 3/25 and really getting anxious. I started my pre diet on this past Wed and scheduled for pre op on this coming Wed and EDG on Friday. My surgeon requires and EGD anytime he's doing a sleeve. I was told I will have blood drawn, EKG and Swallow test. Not really sure what the swallow test is all about. When is your pre op?

My pre-op testing is done. I did all of it this past Wednesday. I had an EGD bright and early then went for my physical exam, chest x-ray, EKG and labs. I'm not sure what the swallow test is either. I started my pre-op diet last Tuesday. My surgeon requires an EGD any time he does a sleeve too. My husband said the whole thing couldn't have taken more than 15 minutes. I don't remember a thing, ha ha ha!

I'm March 25th as well! Not too nervous, just anxious to have it over with and get on the path to wellness! I assume I start pre-op drinking tomorrow, as that's when I meet with the doctor for the last time before Monday. I anticipate I will be starving, but I just keep telling myself how it will all be worth it in the end!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
