JackieV 246 Posted March 17, 2013 While we all know the risks, it doesn't make hearing this type of news any easier. I will be praying for his family during this very difficult time. May you rest in peace.
Osa1992 8 Posted March 17, 2013 So very sad. Thanks for posting this. Yes we all try to be positive but there are risks and complications and the same way we Celebrate the amazing accomplishments, we cannot ignore the bad things that can also happen. Bless his family's heart :'(
Kristina J. 581 Posted March 17, 2013 This is so heartbreaking. A painful reminder to never discount the risks of such a serious procedure. It breaks my heart to think that the decision to get healthy factored so heavily in his death. We are all here because we are suffering or have suffered the same overweight lives. This loss hits close to home for all of us, whether we knew Fred or not. Praying for God to bring comfort to his family. Rest in paradise, Fred!

sistabigbone68 4 Posted March 17, 2013 Oh wow! Im so sorry to hear that. Praying for his family and other loved ones. Blood clots can definitly happen with any surgery. You just have to stay active, as much as possible. Even when you don't feel up to it. Working in the medical field, we get heart patients up the next day as well as orthopedic patients some the same day as a preventative measure. God bless him.. TES 858 Posted March 17, 2013 This is truly heart-breaking. Wishing comfort to his friends and family. One thing we don't know is if the blood clot was a result of the surgery or something that could have happened regardless. A lot of times if someone has atherosclerosis (clogged arteries), this can happen spontaeously. At the same time, I wonder if his doctor had him on Lovenox shots after surgery. My surgeon requires them for 2 weeks for anyone with a BMI of 50 or greater. Again, so very said for this terrible loss, especially at such a young age. I applaud his courage for doing something that was meant to improve his health. Dying from obesity-related complications would be tragic as well.
