I know I'm personally at a loss. I feel like I just talked to him. He was doing great! Excited to start puréed foods! He was walking DAILY!!

We all know there are risks with having this surgery... And no one thinks it will happen to them....

No, we don't. We keep our eyes on the prize and are excited for our future thin selves. It sounds like he was doing everything right. This clot just happened suddenly to him? God, that's so sad.

We were all made aware of the risks associated with having wls, but kind of take them with a grain of salt. However, it is so very sad to hear that one of our vst family members succumbed to the risk. I say family because that is what we are. Although most of us have never met, this forum has in some cases been more supportive than some friends and family members. He like us all was looking forward to his new future with his new body. I don't know what to say, other than this is so tragic.

This is quite sad. Peace be with his family.

Is it customary for a member's presence to be deleted when they pass away? I wanted to read his past posts but can't find his profile.

I have no idea. I was checking Facebook and saw the news. I hope not, at least not for a while....

So heartbreaking! My prayers and thoughts for his family and friends. It is so easy to take this whole thing for granted if one has not had any complications! My heart is saddened at this news.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
