Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on Monday but I am still on the liquids phase barely surviving...i have yet to feel satisfied?? Does the full feeling come first with the soft, mushy or solid phase??

I'm still not sure what the full feeling is either. I just know that I haven't felt hungry, but just made sure I got in my Protein and fluids. I'm on mushy foods and I do measure to make sure I don't get in more than one cup at a time. My doctor used a 38 bougie, so I think that helps with me not feeling the stricture much unless I take too big a swallow.

Are you drinking Protein shakes? You can also eat Jello , cream of broccoli Soup strained. Yogurt. Well I should say I was allowed.

Usually when I feel full, it's because I ate too much and I get pain in my stomach. So I just eat to curve my appetite. I no longer feel the need to feel full.

I never felt full on liquids, but never felt hungry either. I just started my phase 3, pureed foods, and last night I felt full for the first time with pureed potato Soup.< /p>

It takes a while to learn what the different feelings mean. I'm only 2 1/2 weeks out and still haven't completely learned but I have figured out the full feeling. By this time you should be able to have sf Popsicles, Water, Decaf tea, crystal light, yogurt but no "fruit at the bottom (I buy the Dannon light & fit Greek due to calories, sugar, carbs, and protein), creamed Soups (no potato or corn due to them just being starches), cottage cheese, and Protein Shakes. Drink as often as you can but a lot of your "hunger" right now is in the head. I still see things and think I'm hungry when in reality I'm not. Good luck!

Hey don't worry you'll soon figure out your full at the moment your just like a baby on a bottle of milk for the first couple of weeks then it hits you TOO MUCH I FEEL STUFFED... you'll try to push it and try different ways ...,then for me it started am I getting in enough have I had enough Water today..... then you'll find yourself googling and realise this has happened I mean realy happened the reality of the old you has gone no more snacking no more Cookies you don't want to eat and you ACTUALLY put food in the bin instead of your mouth

No more waste disposal unit for food

So enjoy the moment it won't be long before reality bites

Keep sippin and nibbling : )

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
