I am almost 4 weeks post op now..and feeling great. I am over the hump I think...sometimes I wonder if they did anything (if not for the fact that I can only eat tiny amounts)..because I haven't thrown up once, only been nauseated once or twice..and am eating darn near everything (with common sense)...I eat grilled chicken breast, grilled veggies, rice, potatoes, Jello, pudding, eggs, cheese, ice cream, heck..even had some pizza toppings (no crust)..I seem to tolerate everything..but the key is that I eat very small amounts..and I chew it well..takes about an hour to finish about a cup of food. I am getting in around 70gms of Protein with only one supplemental shake...taking in an average of 600 calories a day..have lost 28lbs thus far and am fitting in to clothes I havent' worn since before getting pregnant..and now that I can actually eat some stuff, the social part of this isn't so bad either. We went to Red Lobster on Memorial Day and I ordered the kids garlic grilled shrimp meal with veggies...ate about 75% of it...and felt very happy. Those first couple of weeks just really suck...hope all you other May sleevers are doing well!

Hi Wags, the surgeon said it was normal and to stay on my meds longer for acid reflux (which was causing it). He also mentioned some people stay on this medication up to 3 months post op too.

So I guess it just depends on the patient. Everyone is different and heals differently. He did also mention to me to stop comparing myself to everyone else on this forum as I am doing a great job and not to be so hard on myself. Oops :s

I am glad ke88 that everything went fine and I think your doctor is right we should not compared to other people because everyone is different. We should just keep going and doing our best.

I'm feeling great!! So great that sometimes I wonder if it even worked? LOL!! My only advice is to take it slow. It's crazy how normal you feel after surgery. I feel like I could eat a cheeseburger, but I have to remind myself that if I take a bite of anything it's gonna get stuck! Also - make sure you drink your water! I went to Walmart yesterday and almost passed out. 400 calories + not enough Water + Kansas humidity does not mix!

How do you get away with ordering off of the kids menu? Do you just explain to the waitress that you had surgery?

I'm so glad it's been so good for you! I've been feeling so positive about it that I just feel I am going to have a great outcome! I hope attitude has some effect on outcome!! And I know - these storms and this humidity have been crazy!

I am only three hours from my surgery. The hospital is great, the staff warm, but I still had a sleepless night last night and am dreading the first hours post-op. I had the tiniest bit of ambivalence last night, then took a picture of myself and knew that I was doing the right thing. Wish me luck!

Palomarules, I was sleeved on the 28th also. I am doing really well but struggling to get enough liquid. I would love to hear how you're doing.

wishing all the recent May sleevers well and looking forward to updates...glad all is going well for you, smsgrl...my experience has been similar except my NUT had advised against having any starches (potatoes and rice included) for at least 6-8 months...I know post-op diets differ, but starches aren't something your NUT excluded? I am just curious

I felt incredibly achy while in recovery and I thought for a minute that there would be no relief, and suddenly I was in my room feeling alright. I was told that I shouldn't try to move, but I remember hearing that the sooner you can get up, the better. So I got out of bed intermittently. I have been on an IV drip for three days, but am going home today. I have only been able to sip small amounts of Water, but because of the IV, I've peed out nearly four liters. Some of it is my own water, I hope.

I have not had anything to eat since Tuesday evening and don't miss food. It would be great if I felt like this all the time. Recovery has been much better than I thought but now I just want to get home.

Haha! I went to Barnes and Noble today, and thought my husband was going to have to come get me! Luckily it had a Starbucks in it and I was able to get some juice, I was pretty sure I was going to hit the floor. But, I went for my 1 week check up ( a little over) and my doc said I'm doing great! Down 16lbs total, 10 since surgery!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
