So while our scars aren't really significant, or huge or overwhelming. They are kinda ugly, and well, they're scars. I know there are lots of remedies, and Bio Oil and mederma, but something I hadn't heard of before and am seeing results from is silicone sheets. I bought one, cut some Patches and have been using them on the scars. All you do is peel the backs off (they're sticky) stick 'em on and go do your thing. They do need to be peeled off (they are not sticky like a band-aid, it doesn't hurt) and cleaned with soap and Water and air dried (they stay sticky) and then re applied, but personally I've seen significant lightening of my scars since I've been using them. Just wanted to share ;)

This is the first time I've attempted to add a picture. I hope it works. Anyway, I am happy with how my scars are healing, but have nothing to compare them to. I am right at 2 months out. You can see 4 of my 5 scars in the picture. I use bio oil right out if the shower everyday and I also use merderma every day. The one above my belly button is the worst, but I think the others are looking pretty good.

Thanks! I wish I knew how much of it is genetics and just normal healing and how much is from the merderma/bio oil. I guess it is better to use it as it can't hurt. I have one closer to my side that you can't really see in the pic. I am starting to have a hard time finding it to put the merderma on it. I am thrilled at how small and faint that one is. I wish the other 4 were like that!

I bought my silicone sheet from Amazon. I had to cut it into Patches myself, but they have ones that are cut specifically for certain types of scars, in case you get a Tummy Tuck, breast lift, etc. I've been only using them for a week now. I wish I would have taken before pics :( I'm about 4 months out, had not done any treating with anything, am very pale caucasian, and my scars started a very deep purple color. Now they are more of a mauve. they are still purple, but seem to be lightening significantly. I agree, I wonder what part of our scar healing is genetic, what is actually results from our therepies. I am happy with what the silicone is doing, so maybe others will have success too! I'm all about info sharing!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
