Question about no lifting after surgery

Recommended Posts

For how long after surgery is heavy lifting prohibited? What is the weight limit?

I have a very tall, solid, and heavy (30 lbs) 13 month old that. How do I deal with him wanting me to pick him up, changing his diapers, putting him in his crib, putting him in his car seat, etc? It is usually just me and him at home. Any suggestions?

I can't lift anything heavier than 5lbs. I've broken it often. It's not realistic.

My DR. said no push pull and don't pick up over 10lbs for 2- 4 weeks If you can set on the floor with your 13 mos. might help try to get some one to help you I know it's hard.Don't want any thing to pull are leakages be careful you just had major surgery 80% of you tummy remove...Best of Luck!!

I was told nothing over 8lbs (weight of a gallon of milk) for 6 weeks... I have a sturdy 6 month old granddaughter.. I lugged her 23lb butt around too early and paid for it in soreness but nothing else and I was careful. I didn't pick her up, but would have her handed to me seated and then I did walk around with her and lay her on my bed to change, etc... This was one week out

I have two toddlers (1 & 3) that are about the same size. I'm a stay at home mom and while I can avoid picking up the 3 year old, I'm gonna be in a bind with my youngest! I know exactly what you mean. Cribs and carseats can't be avoided! Though diaper changes can transfer to the floor for a few weeks.

After my husband goes back to work, it'll just be me and them!! :-/ Thinking I may have to stay in San Diego with my family longer than I'd like. (I'm having surgery in Mexico) I know I'll be antsy to get home! I'm gonna have to talk to my doc obviously, but let me know what you hear from yours too! :)

My doc said two weeks and when you need to pick the child up make sure youre sitting and then put him on you lap and then stand up. This lessens the strain on your abdomen and puts it more on our knees

I'll have to get a doc note for work. My entire job is lifting, pulling and pushing. Maybe I can transfer to less straining debt for a short while.

My doc said 4 weeks. I have a 2 year old, like others have noted sometimes you just can't avoid picking them up (in and out of car seat, etc). I did change her diaper on the floor for a few weeks and kept my lifting as minimal as possible but I really only made it about 2 weeks. Just do the best you can, you'll figure out some workarounds.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
