PEURTO VALLARTA - has anyone gone there for surgery?

Recommended Posts

No one replied to my last thread?!

Looking for experiences from there please dde0a

I can't link to it on my phone, but I found a couple threads by searching "Puerto Vallarta"

Start there :) Most of us went or are going to TJ or Mexicali so there's not a whole lot of people that can answer this for you! But do the search, there were some good trip descriptions in there!

Hi Rollargirl, I had my surgery in Puerto Vallarta on Oct 20/12 with Dr Lopez and Dr Osuna. I didn't for one minute regret my choice. The hospital is new, big, clean and quiet. The hotel Marriott is amazing, the staff were wonderful. Anakaren that meets you at the airport is a gem. My husband came with me and we stayed 3 extra days. I had no problems after my surgery. If you have any other questions you can im me.

The Amerimed Hospital is Peurto Vallarta is brand new. It's amazing. Your room is more like a suite than a hospital room.

I went alone to PV from Canada for surgery. I was completely fine.

I was also decided on Cancun with Dr. Perez, but the things I've read about the Clinica Victoria have made me begin to look at other options. Dr. Joya is 1050.00 more than Dr. Perez but the hospital looks so much nicer and so I am leaning that way. I am going to do more research though, before I make my final bookings. :-)

YES! I was there on Jan 21st for surgery with Dr Joya. Can't say enough great things about the hospital/staff. I would do it again in a heart beat.

How did everything go with Dr Joya? No complications or complaints?

Who did you end up going with? I'm scheduled with dr joya and wanted to see if you ended up seeing him or not

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
