Oh sorry. Not sure why that didn't come up but I'm 16 days PO. It took me 30 mins and I had to reheat it but it went down pretty easy.

I was told by my Dr. If you eat anything thicker than milk before 21 days you could get in big trouble!! I remember his face just before heading to surgery... He told me a patient of his ate a yogurt and it got stuck. It wouldn't move and oozed through her stitches! She had to be re-admitted, got an infection, ended up in ICU for a month!!! That was enough for me to not push it! I'm only 6 days post op, but I am dreaming about the day I can have oatmeal and scrambled eggs!

It's on my list for after day 15. Any soft ground meat. And it's on the suggestion list from my NUT. I had 2 weeks of liquids now soft foods. Everyone's doctors and NUTs have different plans.

I've questioned these differences in nutrition plans from the start. It's the same procedure universally - why do the diet plans vary so much? I am only allowed soft foods beginning on day 21, and no meat of any kind until day 48.

BTW, I'm not questioning or challenging anyone's plan VS mine - I'd just love meatball a week from now instead of five weeks. #pitypartyforone :)

Well my surgeon and dietician cleared soft foods such as lean meats at 2 weeks as well. Every doctor is different so don't let anyone tell you that you can't eat a meatball 2 weeks out. If your stomach can stand it then it is yours to eat. I ate my first piece of chicken 2 weeks out and a meatball 3.. It's all about what your body can take at this point. I eat any Protein now at 5 weeks. The only things I can't eat are raw veggies, breads and pastas at this point. My salad will be in 3 more weeks which is very exciting!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
