tkhicks 0 Posted March 16, 2013 Greetings All, I have been scouring this site since before surgery for real experiences and first hand info so I thought it time to to join!! I am 7 days post op and feeling oh so much better than earlier in the week! Compared to some of the other posts I feel that I have had a fairly easy go of it....no nausea/vomiting, no shoulder pain, unpleasant but tolerable tummy and incision pain....Don't get me wrong....days 3-6 were not fun but I definitely feel that I have turned the corner. I have been very surprised by how hungry I have actually felt given that everyone at the support group I attended said they were never hungry. I am assuming this comes once you can put something in your mouth to actually chew! I am 45 with a great husband and a 5 year old that runs circles around us! I also have a 22 year old but that's another type of blog!! I attended my first surgery info session in Nov and almost 4 months to the day went for surgery. My biggest fear during the long process to the OR was that I would undergo umpteen procedures and test only to have the insurance deny. Fortunately not the case and 1 week after approval I was scheduled. Lindsee McPhail is my surgeon and she and the whole team have been outstanding. My husband is out this evening watching basketball and no doubt up to his elbows in buffalo wings and beer....yes I'm jealous but focused on getting through this first month. Anyway thanks for reading and I look forward to keeping up with everyone's progress...unless you're going through it, I'm not sure you fully get it!
Lori228 60 Posted March 16, 2013 Welcome!! I am just a week earlier on February 28th. I have not had too much trouble and just learning what I can tolerate even with liquids. I just did a half day back to work today and will be back full time next week. Everyone was so excited for me and could tell a difference already (have lost 20 pounds). I am so glad to be a part of a process that is doable and workable and looking forward to finally getting and keeping the weight off. I sometimes wish I could have what my family is having, too, but I have to stay positive and just keep enjoying what I can have and in due time I will be eating what they have, just much less of it.
