Recommended Posts

I had my surgery March 13th byDr Fernando Garcia, he is the greatest surgeon! I felt safe in his hands during the surgery. The hardest thing to deal with was the darn drain.Right now I am downstairs in the marriot in the computer room. I highly recommend Dr Garcia. Also recommend staying at the marriot in Tijuana they treat you like royalty here.

My biggest recommendation is to ASK for what you want. They don't just bring you drinks you have to ask for them. Also I went by myself so when just out of surgery and I was still very tired and not wanting to walk a lot, I asked the nurse to come and remind me to walk. Which she did gladly. Also you sometimes have to ASK what is going on, what you can have, what's happening next, etc.

If your drain does not have a clip ask for one so you can clip to your clothes so it does not swing.. when it swings around it kind of hurts.

Bring earplugs. The traffic outside is loud and they're constantly honking their horns.

Where are you girl??? I've been trying to find you in this hotel! Dr. Luna is coming today to remove my staples and not sure what time he is coming so i was asked to not leave the hotel...great...i'm in room 202. Call me and we can walk the halls together!!!! Yes, everyone remember to ask for what you want like Water, juice etc once you are cleared to have them after the leak test. The horn honking was ridiculous so ear plugs!!!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
