I'm 7 weeks post op and still can't tolerate solid food. No matter how much I chew/blend or how small I cut the pieces. How long did it take everyone to tolerate solids?

Sorry to hear that. I haven't had any problem with any food. Have you talked to the dr?

Describe "tolerate" please. Do you throw it up? Does it hurt? Lots of foamy acid?

By abt 4 weeks postoperative I was able to eat some solid foods in small amounts. Now I'm 11 weeks postoperative and I can eat pretty much anything in small amounts, but my sleeve does not like bread or Pasta at all...

I guess you can say that after one small bite I have to lay down because my stomach is in shambles! The pain usually lasts around 20 minutes. Maybe it's the kind of food I eat? Today I tasted a "piggy in the blanket" without the bread N that went down well.

I'm 8 weeks on Monday and I'm on solids I haven't eaten anything that don't agree I even had pot beef roast .. I haven't tried any bread or pastas or steaks but be careful w the hit dogs my nut suggested I wait 3 months out to have that what u should do in my opinion is introduce one food at a time but stick to like baked fish first like Tilapia , salmon , snapper before trying like chicken and other kinda of meats there for me are easy to get done and digest.. chicken is heavy in my stomach but I can tolerate it well .. If your in pain I would suggest as well as to follow your doctors order and go back a stage be patient my doc said to move a step up if I'm doing good and to move a step back if I'm not ..and In do time u will be able to tolerate the foods u desire

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
