Why does the weight loss slow down!

Recommended Posts

I'm 3 months post op and I've lost 71lbs but this months doctors visit I only lost 10lbs. 10lbs in a month what the hell happened.

What am I doing wrong? A sad day for me :-(!!!! Although losing 10lbs a month is good but why so soon.

You body starts to figure out what's going on and adjusts accordingly. Believe it or not, you probably need to eat more than you are now to get the weight to start coming off. I know that's hard to do, but to get the body to burn more fuel, you have to provide that fuel. Otherwise it will do everything it can to hold on to the energy (fat) that it has stored up. I'm sure that they told you that at this stage you need to eat somewhere where around 800-1200 calories a day. I know how hard that is, because I can't get there my self (almost 4 months), but I am trying to at least keep my protein/carb ration to about 2-1. I'm losing slowly too, but I am not really worried about it too much. It does get frustrating at times, but a 2 pound a week loss, is a good way to make sure that the weight stays off and you aren't losing muscle instead of fat. Hang in there it gets better!

10 lbs in a month? That sounds great! I'm 7 weeks post op and have never managed 10 lbs in 4 weeks. But I'm extremely happy with my weight loss :)

awwwwww..........

chin up hun :)

you are doing fine

congrats on your 3 month weight loss!!!!

71 lbs down so far is great, really!!!!!

loosing 10 lbs in a month???

no prob here :)

wish you had a ticker and a profile (hint, hint  )so i could see how much more weight you need to lose

if you don't have much more to lose you might slow down a bit with your loss - but thats ok :)

kicking up the energy a bit, exercising more is always good - but i wouldn't kick up the lbs

some people do that if they have been in a long stall - to "wake" up their system

but your system might be "resting" a bit - don't startle it now!!!

you'll reach your destination - promise!!! :)

GOD grant me patience, just hurry up about it

Yes i was told to increase my meals, when i came to a stall,so what i do is set my timer ever two hours,to remind my self to eat, because if i ilsten to my stomach,i will never eat lol..even when i'm full i still make myself to eat, because i can only eat a few spoons at a time anyway..and yes i notice the difference when i start eating more.this weekend i was out of town, and i got off track, i'm back home so i'm back on track..and also you could be losing inches that will not show on the scale, and that is what was going on with me, my clothes was steady getting bigger, but the scale was not moving.i was told to take my weight once a week and not every day,i know it get's hard and you can't help it,:)

I just started working out two weeks ago only cardio!!! But I am on my period this week so it could be that. Also I went out the country and they didn't have good food choices. I didn't gain or loose weight that week.

Thank you!!! I was off track for a week when I was out of the country. I set my timer to drink Water because I was drinking enough!!! Which makes me full and now I'm not eating enough. I'm gonna get back on track this week..

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
