Am I PB'ing or not?

Recommended Posts

Hello all once again..I am sorry if this is repetitive BUT I thought pbing was throwing up but I just read something that it is just a burp well I am nervous because i have been burping uncontrolllably all week from the gas and I cannot help it...It feels better when I burp like I am relieved....Please tell me if that is a PB and if burping will slip my band...

Dear Apink,

A PB refers to later when you are eating solid foods and have restriction. food goes in, does not go down, returns to your mouth in original form. Not vomiting, because no bile involved. Accompanied by "sliming" and your heartfelt promises to never do again whatever it was you did that started this whole thing!

So take a deep breath and calm yourself. At less than a week post surgery, it is highly unlikely that you are eating anything solid enough to make a PB. It is very likely that you are burping because your abdomen was pumped with CO2 (or something similar) to give the surgeon a clear field to work in. Burping and farting and walking are good -- they do no harm to the band.

Here's a link to common abbreviations you will see on LBT.

Good luck,

Jo Ann

I PB'ed on liquids for about a week after surgery........probably due to extreme swelling (the ONLY time I've had restriction). I couldn't figure out what was happening, but I'd feel all nauseated, and then I'd produce this ENORMOUS amount of saliva. If I swallowed the saliva, I was really in trouble. Then I'd do this HUGE belch that sounded as if I had a lion in my tummy. All that came up was a little liquid. It was HORRIBLE!!

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
