I know there is a list somewhere but I can't find it. What are some things that you recent sleevers took to the hospital. My surgery is on Tuesday and I will be packing this weekend. Were you aloud to wear your own jammies or did you have to wear a gown the whole time? Any help would be appreciated!

Hi there,

I just had my sleeve done 6/18 and I'm 4 days postoperative. As far as what to pack I wouldn't overdo it. I took a lot more than I actually even touched while in the hospital. The things I brought and used was Chapstick, phone charger, small comfortable pillow for traveling and the clothes I wore home are the same ones I wore to the hospital. Each time I walked the halls I wore a second hospital gown overtop. I wast able to wear anything else very easily due to the IVs. I also was provided non skid socks but wore flip flops to and home from the hospital

Good luck!!

Hello....txbucki we are Monday sleevers together...I also am scheduled for 8am. We can do this!!!! When I think of the gas and the time it will take to get out ... I think back on all the times I pigged out and felt so miserable it hurt. It is probably comparable to that and we won't be doing that anymore so the gas pains will go away with time and we can start our new lifestyles. I will be thinking good thoughts for all the June sleevers. Looking forward to this exciting journey with everyone.

Txbucki & Laners.... I go on monday as well! I go in at 5:30 & surgery at 7:30. My emotions are up

and down, but we got this!!!! I can't wait to be on the losing bench. Lets keep in touch. Prayers to you both that we will be comfortable during and after surgery!

I got sleeved on June 17, it was a crazy experience but I survived it Praise God! I did mine In TJ with Dr. Lopez and got back to Georgia yesterday June 21 I'm so glad). My problem is my oxygen levels are still low and I have a challenge sleeping all night. Does any one else have trouble sleeping? My drain removal had me scared for nothing. All in all I'm glad I did it. No regrets so far. and down 9 lbs already from Mondays surgery date.

I had my surgery on June 20. I got to go home today. The pain was more than I expected. I think it's mostly from the gas pressure. I the gas pressure also makes it hard to breath in deep. I just startedassing gas today. Only a little has passes, but is made a huge difference. Was regretting it yesterday, but I'm so pleased i had it done now.

I had my sleeve on Monday, June 17th. It went well but I felt really bad! I'm feeling better but every time I drink a Protein Shake I feel like I have to go to the bathroom, nothing comes, though! I'm down 24lbs so I guess I should be happy. Any suggestions on alleviating the grippy stomach I'm all ears.

This week I was go sick of drinking RTE Protein Shakes that even the thought of tasting one made me nauseous. I went to GNC and got some unflavored unsweetened Protein powder (called Pro Performance) and mixed one scoop of that with 8 oz of juice and it was SO much better than the premixed shakes in the can. I've been drinking those all weekend.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
