I am having the same problem

With sleeping and staying asleep. Part Of my problem is that I can't sleep flat. Hurts my incisions too much so I am essentially sleeping sitting up mostly. Day 3 is better for me today too though. Drinking has certainly improved also. How are you feeling fellow sleever?

I spent my first three nights sleeping in an upright position. I slept in my recliner those nights. By the forth night I was able to sleep in my bed.

Yes ive had this too....honestly burping didnt help me....I had try and lay from side to side and get the gas to move around to be expelled that way. I was advised NOT to us gasX (sent my hubby to buy the strips for tongue) it was to be natural process of coming out. Can I ask what nausea meds ur on? My doc has me on the Scapolomin patch behind my ear, zolfarn tabs that go under ur tongue and then I have some liquid stuff...I forget the name of it. My advice would be to insist on something new for ur nausea...and then walk around ur living room....its honestly the only thing that helped me. Hope some of that helps. What meds r u currently on for acid and heart burn?

Hi, I was actually on the patch and the zolfran for the nausea i'm actually doing pretty good today. The gas has subsided a lot. Now I'm just running into issues of getting in my Protein and fluids. Once I put something on my stomach it felt like a pile of bricks. so I'm trying to find a NORMAL Daily routine for me.

I slept in my own bed last night and did well with flat sleeping. Even did a couple hours on my side too.

I am not a good sleeper at all before all this WLS... I asked my surgeons PA if I could take a Benadryl at night to help me sleep and he said it was fine, so I finally got a heavenly night of sleep last night in my bed.

If the sleeping issues don't improve, maybe you could ask your doc/nurse about Benadryl at bedtime, I've used it for years and I was OK'd for it:)

You'd definitely remember if you had one, you're lucky. It's a thing that hangs out of you and blood seeps out of it. They say it's an interesting feeling when they take it out.

I know there is a list somewhere but I can't find it. What are some things that you recent sleevers took to the hospital. My surgery is on Tuesday and I will be packing this weekend. Were you aloud to wear your own jammies or did you have to wear a gown the whole time? Any help would be appreciated!

Tx. You can get through this, and will be on the losers bench giving advice to the July sleevers before you know it (I'm July:)). Best of luck to you and all of you who have just gone or going soon. I'm excited for you and am following close behind.

Hello....txbucki we are Monday sleevers together...I also am scheduled for 8am. We can do this!!!! When I think of the gas and the time it will take to get out ... I think back on all the times I pigged out and felt so miserable it hurt. It is probably comparable to that and we won't be doing that anymore so the gas pains will go away with time and we can start our new lifestyles. I will be thinking good thoughts for all the June sleevers. Looking forward to this exciting journey with everyone.

I had no nausea, and minimal gas discomfort. Never a pain. So not everyone experiences the same things. You will do great! My nerves were frayed, and I worried about am I doing the right hing up to the point they wheeled me back and mom started crying. Then they wheeled me in at 9:55, had me move on the surgery table and I was out cold for "30 seconds" and woke up at 11:15 (30 seconds later) to them loading me with pain meds in recovery! When they brought me to my room, I had my last dose of pain meds, then refused the rest of my hospital stay.

Follow your surgeon's instructions! That will get you through with the least pain and nausea! They know what they're doing! It's place is great but ultimately he or she is going to steer you in the right direction. You will do great and be a loser soon enough!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
