Good Grief! You look fantastic but I have to ask... how on earth did you lose almost 100 pounds in only four months? I know I've read other similar posts but' date=' man, my surgery was on Nov.23 (just a few days after yours) and I'm only down about 37 pounds. I know we all lose differently along with having different stats. I'm 47 years old, 5'9'' tall, and started at 250 pounds. Frustrating but I know it'll eventually come off.

Congrats again on your wonderful accomplishment.

I am similar... I am 50, 5'8" and started out at 241 lbs... I had surgery 2/18 and only lost 20lbs so far. I assume those of us who aren't so young will lose slower... We've had more time to damage our metabolism too!

I'm the same starting stats as you except I'm 44. My surgery is Monday and I will be thrilled if I loose 20 pound in the first month...that's amazing!

This may be too personal. But you look to be close to my age. I'm 24. And I have 20 more lbs til onederland. I'm wondering how bad excess skin is right now? I'm hoping because I'm still young it won't be too bad. Did start at a higher weight. 330 lbs and am at 220 today. I understand if this is a too personal question.

You're right, we're about the same age- I'm 23. And feel free to ask me any questions, I am always super honest and open. Excess skin hasn't been an issue for me. I do have a small amount of looser skin to my lower abdomen and arms, but I am confident that ill be able to tighten up a lot at the gym! You are also doing wonderfully with your weight loss!! Congrats!!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
