I was sleeved 2/19 and have lost a total of 30 pounds-11 pre-op and 19 post-op. I have been having trouble with concentration and staying on task at work. Am I not getting enough of something??

I have been stalled for about a week. I'm getting about 400-500 calories, 50 Protein, 64oz Fluid. My protein is about 50% of my calories. Taking vitamins...why do I have such brain fog?

Maybe up your Protein and calories? I was told most people should do 60 protein and 600-700 calories to feel "their best". I know when I got around 50 I didn't feel normal and once I kicked up the calories and protein a little it was like a night and day difference.

Attention span can be affected by the amount of Protein intake(link). Confusion can also come from severe dehydration(link). And of course at that low of a calorie intake you could be become hypoglycemic(low blood sugar). Given you current weight assuming your profile is correct you should be trying for a minimum of 70 grams of protein a day. Your Fluid intake looks good. But at a month out from surgery you need to start getting that calorie intake up. Eating that low of calories consistently is not healthy. You should definitely consult your surgeon or NUT and show them a log of what your intakes have been so they can properly help you to adjust your diet accordingly. Good Luck.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
