kicked off of a fair ride....

Recommended Posts

This happened to me last year at universal. I normally avoid rides for the fear something like that world happen but since I had been on it before I didn't think twice. When I was asked to get off and wait I literally felt something die inside of me. I played it off with friends and said there was some sort of confusion but when I got my husband alone for a few minutes I cried like a baby. I can not wait to get my surgery behind me and start this journey.

I'm going to a big amusement park at the end of July and I'm hoping I'll be able to fit in some of the rides. But I'm worried I'll be too terrified to even try. I was sleeved on April 6 and I'm 260 and 5'8" now (from a high of 325). I hope to lose another 10-15 lbs in the next month but I don't know if that'll be enough. I hope!

I've been big as long as I can remember and I remember being 17, out with my friends at the fair and having to hold my breath to squeeze a lap belt down and then looking at my best friend who had 9" of space between her thighs and the bar, that was last year, I got sleeved 6days ago so I'm not sure if I will be small enough this year but I will work hard and hopefully be able to get on all the rides at Disney when we go in December!

I love rollercoasters but haven't been to a park in almost a decade. The last time I went I saw a girl try to ride and get turned away for being too big. And at that time I was almost too large to fit. So I haven't been back since then, for fear of being turned away. On the top of my post sleeve bucket list? Any and every ride I can find!

Been there! I went with my kids to Nickelodeon Universe at mall of America a few years ago for my then seven-year-old's birthday. He really wanted to go on a ride. So we went up to buckled in and they couldn't get me buckled and I got kicked off the ride. The embarrassment was incredible but even worse was a disappointment my son's eyes because my weight directly affected his having fun with me. he told me I should go on biggest loser so that I could go on rides with him. That was rough.

I used to work at cedar point. I'm a coaster lover. The last Halloweekend I worked there, they delivered the parts for millenium force. Moved to NC and by the time I made it back to ride it, I was too fat.

This summer the kids really wanted me to ride Diamondback with them at kings island. I tried the test seat and this year I was so close. One click but I needed two. You should have seen the kids jumping on it to get it to click. I just laughed. The ride host got a little ticked.

Next year I'm riding them all

Last year I went to Universal Studios and while I had fun, I spent most of the day on google looking up forums that people had posted about bigger people and if they could fit on the rides or not. That was one of the last straws for me in deciding to have this surgery. I didn't want to think about all of the things that had become "normal" for me to have to think and worry about but weren't normal. I cant wait to go back and not have to pretend like I don't enjoy riding the rides to get out of worrying if I would fit!

The last time I went to an amusement park, at around 300 pounds, I was allowed to get on the ride but as it Spohn, the little rocketship shape to seat I was sitting in scraped the floor every time it went around. I used every muscle in my body to try to hold myself to one side, but I had never been so mortified and all my life.

I live close to Cedar Point in Ohio and a few years ago I waited in line for about 1 1/2 hrs to go on a roller coaster with my husband and kids. Wouldn't you know that I couldn't get bucked in. My worst fear was happening so I ran out of the gates before my family or the ride operator even noticed. I just sat on a bench and willed myself not to cry while I waited for them. I can't wait until I can ride EVERY ride in ANY amusement park!

Same thing happened to me ar cedar point.. I feel your pain. I'll be sleeved soon and plan a triumphant return in October.

I went to sesame place last summer with my husband and 5 yr old son. We were gonna ride the roller coaster the lift that come down over your head & buckles at your waist wouldn't close/ lock the attendant kept pushing I think she was embarrassed for me. There was a line of people watching so embarrassing. I had to get off the line. I'm going to Disney this year from my past experience that the only place that fits bigger people.

I went to Dollywood several years ago with my husband. We got on one ride that I just couldn't lower the lap bar on so that it would click into place. After everyone else was locked in and ready to go, here I was still struggling. There were 3 people working that ride at the time, and all 3 gathered around me to make the lap bar lock in. All this while people waited and watched. Then, to my horror, the worker lady says to me "honey, I need you to lift up your belly, it's getting in the way". I was absolutely mortified. I told her to just let me up, and I literally ran down the ramp crying, and all the way to the bathrooms, leaving my hubby behind. We left immediately and I haven't set foot in another amusement park since. My surgery is at the end of July, and I can't wait until I'm able to take my 3 year old to Six Flags and ride the rides with her.

About 9 years ago (I was 21 years old and about 260lbs) I went to Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, VA. Apollo's Chariot had just opened. I was so excited! I was there with my sister, her boyfriend, and my girlfriend at the time. We were all set to board the ride. I sat down and began pulling the lap bar down. It wouldn't lock. One of the ride attendants came over to help. He pushed and pushed, but it still would not lock. After several attempt they ended up releasing everyone's seats so that I could exit the ride. It was humiliating! I haven't been on a ride since. I am now at my heaviest weight, 299.6, and I am going through the process to have my surgery in June. It is the best decision I have ever made! I am taking back control of my life!

Same thing happened to me, same ride, same place!

I HAD MY GASTRIC SLEEVE ON MAY 9 2016 AND I'M DOWN 74 IBS. I DID MINE IN MEXICO AND EVERYTHING WAS GREAT. NO PAIN BUT I'M A LITTLE WORRIED NOW BECAUSE I'M EATING MORE food NOW. I'M REALLY SCARED THAT I'M GONNA GAIN ALL THAT WEIGHT BACK. EVEN THOUGH I KNOW I'M EATING SMALL PORTIONS. I GUESS I'M JUST EXCITED AND NERVOUS.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
