What happens when you get sick?

Recommended Posts

In the last 3 weeks I've been sick twice. First it was a sinus infection, then the flu. During the flu part especially I wasn't eating hardly anything. EVERYTHING made me feel sick and I couldn't stomach any Protein Shakes at the time. I drank as much as I could to stay hydrated, but I slept most of the time.

After I started feeling better I could only eat a few bites here and there. I had a Protein shake and could only finish about 1/4th of it.

I'm supposed to be weighed in two days. Any guesses as to what my weight is going to do? Is my lean body mass going to be way down? I'm so upset that I had these two setbacks so close together, but what can you do? I'm going to try to get back to the gym this week. I did some moderate cleaning today and I had to keep sitting down because I felt dizzy.

Let me know what you guys and gals think.

A small set back for a whole new life. Just rest and get well. :)

I lost 5lbs with the flu and after a several week stall I didn't care if it was fat, muscle, or dead skin

Just got back from getting weighed. I lost 7 lbs. I didn't even pay attention to my lean body mass or anything. I broke into the 240s! Celebration!

I lost 15lb in 1 week with glandular fever. I couldnt exercise for 3 months as I was so sick and was hospitalized twice for severe dehydration. I lost all of my weight REALLY quickly because of it and the only real side effect I'm suffering now because of it is HEAPS of saggy skin. It just didn't have time to contract.

Focus on getting better, not on the weight.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
