SimplyFAB 83 Posted March 16, 2013 I would wake up puking and gagging also if my last meal was at 6pm. My blood sugar would get low and I would have tons of dizzy spells. Depending on how recently you had surgery' date=' you may need a PPI. I took Nexium for the first month and a half after surgery. I used to wake up nauseous a lot but thankfully I don't anymore.[/quote'] I started taking Prilosec last night and it did make a difference but the gagging wasn't completely gone this morning. I'm hoping I have the same luck as you and it goes away with time.

MrsGina 101 Posted March 16, 2013 I take Nexium and still have the problem. I started drinking a glass of milk before bed and that seemed to help. It is awful. One time I verped and it burned my throat so bad I thought it would bleed. Good luck
Kristina J. 581 Posted March 16, 2013 I take Nexium and still have the problem. I started drinking a glass of milk before bed and that seemed to help. It is awful. One time I verped and it burned my throat so bad I thought it would bleed. Good luck MrsGina... Maybe try cutting out the milk!! I've been fighting reflux for years with my lapband in and know way more about it than I ever wanted to lol, but milk can actually make it worse. Milk is a trick when it comes to acid reflux. The milk is immediately soothing on your throat and stomach but as it sits in your stomach will actually increase acid production!! Instead of milk, I chew a tums before bed and take my PPI (Protonix has been the best for me) religiously!! I still get burn through sometimes, but not as bad since I found out about the milk thing and quit using it to sooth the burning!!

One time I verped and it burned my throat so bad I thought it would bleed. Good luck I found that the medium doesn't work for me at all and I take a pill called pariet here in Aus. I think it's the same as somac? Anyway it does work pretty well for me, I still wake every morning feeling yuk but take it straight away then have my shake and it seems to settle, at least no more reflux acid coming up

SimplyFAB 83 Posted March 16, 2013 Yesterday was the second night I took Prilosec and this morning was better than yesterday. I still gag (which I despise) but at least it's for a shorter amount of time.

dk9868 2 Posted March 18, 2013 I have foam after I eat. I am finding I have it more when I'm overful. I'm not drinking when I eat and I take prilosec every morning. Not sure why you're having it in the morning. Try an extra pillow too. I sleep better with this new tummy when I'm more elevated.

I can't wait for this morning feeling to be over! I'm a teacher and right now I'm at the nurses office because I think I ate too fast. I feel like I'm never going to be normal again and I'm already 2 months op!
NORCALRN 60 Posted March 18, 2013 i take protonix every morning and have mega bottles of carafate on hand. i do not use the carafate much since 95% of my nutrition comes from tube feeding. but it does a nice job of coating the GI tract. unfortunately - i have thrown carafate up way too many times so it is on my "aversion" list!!!!!! the protonix helps - even though i have reflux that actually goes right up to the top of my esophagus - (neat to watch when having upper GI's) - i do not have any symptoms. lucky in that area i guess. hey, at this point i will take it!!! keep working on triggers, tricks and the PPI's..hope you feel better!! LMFAO575 112 Posted March 18, 2013 I'm extremely grateful to wake up and see another day' date=' but I don't looking forward to the first 15 minutes of what has become my morning routine. Every morning I wake up gagging and throwing up a white foam. Most of the time it's multiple burps. I contacted my doctor and he told me to stop eating dinner late, I eat my dinner by 6 pm at the latest and its still happening. Can I please get some advice? Does this happen to everyone? How can I make this stop? And no I'm not pregnant [/quote'] My doc has his WLS pts on actigall and Pepcid for first 6 months. Talk to your md about it.
