SimplyFAB 83 Posted March 14, 2013 I'm extremely grateful to wake up and see another day, but I don't looking forward to the first 15 minutes of what has become my morning routine. Every morning I wake up gagging and throwing up a white foam. Most of the time it's multiple burps. I contacted my doctor and he told me to stop eating dinner late, I eat my dinner by 6 pm at the latest and its still happening. Can I please get some advice? Does this happen to everyone? How can I make this stop? And no I'm not pregnant

Amanda626 153 Posted March 14, 2013 As vogue said, prilosec or something of that nature. Most people take that little purple pill in the morning , but I was waking up icky and the dr told me to take mine at night. It has helped.
SimplyFAB 83 Posted March 14, 2013 I have never heard of those pills before, what are they?
cbd 78 Posted March 14, 2013 never has happened to me but I am on prilosec twice a day for the first 60 days. Just finished it but I think I will continue to take one a bedtime. Good luck
Richard Foor 655 Posted March 14, 2013 I have never heard of those pills before, what are they? ppi stands for proton pump inhibitor these are medications used to reduce stomach acid normally taken for acid reflux. the common examples are Prilosec and nexium. the Prilosec is available over the counter and there is a generic available at Walmart fairly cheaply. the generic name for Prilosec is Omperazole DR. This would most likely help with your problem because it is most likely caused by an excess of acid in your stomach. The body usually tries to digest more food while you are sleeping so it makes more stomach acid at that time. Good Luck.
SimplyFAB 83 Posted March 14, 2013 Very informative! For those of you that take Prilosec, do you crush the pills? Is there a liquid form?
TBRUNZ 1 Posted March 14, 2013 I've been taking a pill fairly regularly since my surgery 3 weeks ago. (I suck at taking pills everyday). I don't crush it. I didn't really think it was doing anything. BUT I didn't take it for two days and I woke up this morning gagging with a terrible taste in my mouth (like bile). So it helps!
SimplyFAB 83 Posted March 14, 2013 I'm going to buy it today! I'm hoping it takes care of my issue. Thank you, everyone!

SimplyFAB 83 Posted March 15, 2013 Thanks! I just crushed the pill and put it inside a little cup with crystal light. Lord I hope I dont wake up with that horrible sensation. I dread waking up :/ my neighbor even asked if everything was ok because he's overheard me gagging lol
TBRUNZ 1 Posted March 15, 2013 Soooo what's the verdict?
SimplyFAB 83 Posted March 15, 2013 So I crushed the pill last night and drank it with a little bit of crystal light. I woke up ten times better this morning! I went from a 15 minute gagging spree to a 5 minute one this morning. I noticed that when I drank the crushed pill, there was a lot leftover after all the liquid was gone. So tonight I'm going to try to continue mixing the drink as I drink it. I can't wait until these morning gagging sessions are gone for good!
Banned member 320 Posted March 15, 2013 I would wake up puking and gagging also if my last meal was at 6pm. My blood sugar would get low and I would have tons of dizzy spells. Depending on how recently you had surgery, you may need a PPI. I took Nexium for the first month and a half after surgery. I used to wake up nauseous a lot but thankfully I don't anymore.
